Travelled from PUNE to CSMT in EC/E2. Honest opinion is dont take EC, there were way too many kids for what it's worth. EC didnt feel like EC at all. Rest everything else was acceptable, the breakfast, the seats and all. Train maintained a rough delay of 15-20 mins End to End. Didnt do much railfanning onboard except for some videos.

True true, ill just own upto it and count this as my loss, the main lesson ive learned is to avoid booking in premium trains before prior talks and proper research, and ill also check the catering services before booking just incase.😞
I am speaking from a general observation and there are going to be exceptions.
Mumbai SUR VB and SNSI VB EC have very poor patronage during weekdays and regular travellers who are the biggest revenue generators won't generally prefer it just for the higher costs.

Have you travelled yourself in Vistadome or EC on Mumbai Pune Route ?
I haven't and I would pass it anytime if I have to.
