Additionally, the Katihar-Teznarayanpur section in Bihar is also being electrified, with these two sections totaling 63.74 route kilometers and expected to be completed soon. The NFR has already electrified significant portions of its jurisdiction, including 921.01 km in Assam, 9.58 km in Meghalaya, 6.00 km in Nagaland, 285.87 km in Bihar, and 744.726 km in West Bengal. Statutory inspections for the Katihar Division sections, namely Raninagar Jalpaiguri Junction—Haldibari (30.71 Route Kilometres) and Katihar Jn—Teznarayanpur (33.03 Route Kilometres), are expected shortly. The electrification works are being carried out in phases by IRCON, RITES, NFR/Construction, and CORE, aiming to enhance train mobility, strengthen the rail network in the northeast, reduce pollution, improve financial performance, facilitate seamless traffic, and increase average train speed, leading to better punctuality.
