Awesome Great trip dairy Nice writeup.
Trip report for my journey done along with our IRI member & friend Mr.Amit Kumar Singh (Bhilai) on 17th December 2016 (Saturday) from Gaya.Jn to Barddhaman.Jn
Reached Gaya.Jn station at 05:40 Hrs, spotted Mumbai Mail arriving at pf#01 along with a WAP-7 HWH, while we moved along with our luggage on pf#02-03, it was 05:45 Hrs but still no announcement or name over display board then heard a shrill sound of horn along with bright headlight, yes that was our train to board -
much hyped 22324 Shabd Bhedi Express over pf#02 but along a red WAP-4 HWH. Still there was no announcement nor coach position displayed over pf, we hurried on to our coach that was S6 33LB, 34MB, 36LB. As soon as we got seated over berths finally the announcer woke up to announce this trains arrival, that too with very unpleasant hoarse sound but by that time train was already rolling! I would say I was very much disappointed by this poor behaviour at such important station! Well after departure train started gaining speed it was very cold outside & a bit foggy too! After passing Paharpur we started slowing down for upcoming Gurpa - Gujhandi Ghat section ahead, which was a new experience for me as in past journeys this section was passed during night time. I took out the cellphone & starting recording the section admist chilly cold winds, which literally froze my hand of it's warm blood, but still kept on with railfanning! At this section we crossed many trains which were re-scheduled from Kolkata side, at Gomoh.Jn we overtook a train. Arrival at Dhanbad.Jn was very early at around 30 mins from it's scheduled arrival over pf#01. We hopped outside over platform to get some tea & snacks, we over train too vendors were selling tea, but we preffered station tea & samosas (singara). We cheched the loco link again to take some front snaps but due to presence of large numbers of RPF guys & instead returned towards backside & Ranchi Shatabdi Express arrived at pf#05 with a WAP-7 HWH. While departing saw a WAM-4 MGS over pf#02 with some Passenger service awaiting to depart. Till Asansol run was good just at one place we slowed down to cross Maithoon river, thereafter straight halt at Asansol.Jn. At Asansol ELS saw couple of WAP-4's, WAG-7 & twin WAP-7 (probably new). halt at Durgapur.Jn was short & sweet over pf#04. After that we started sorting out over belonging to alight at next halt that was at Barddhaman.Jn while Amit was to alight at Kolkata Terminus (Chitpur). Prior to entry at BWN we were kept waiting at outer while a WAG-7 JHS hauled CONCOR rake was slowly in parallel direction overtooking us, but withinn some moments we were given to proceed to finally overtake that freighter & I was just waiting to board BWN CHORD EMU. Arrival at Barddhaman.Jn was over pf#05, we bid farewell to Amit & ran to buy tickets, finally when arrived saw HWH CHORD EMU had already arrived over pf#04. We boarded EMU & I finally dozzed off over window seat & proceeded to have cubersome journey till Dankuni.Jn.

Ok... so you got the privilege to take snaps of this newbie train at Gaya, Dhanbad, Asansol, Durgapur and Bardhamman... all biggie stations covered between Mughalsarai and Kolkata for this train. Nice snaps... did your train slow down at GMO or skipped at a decent speed since track renewal work was going on over there some months ago ? :)

Pic 23 is Barakar river bridge is sort of border that marks end of Jharkhand and beginning of West Bengal. With KMME (my home station) in Jharkhand and Barakar station in WB. Besides as this train goes to KOAA its route must separate from Dankuni JN so it would halt for signal or something. I have once seen SDAH Rajdhani halting there. So u could have debaorded there. In case it didnt halt there was no way but to come back from KOAA by bus or train.

PS: Does any one know that by which date will the New Barakar Bridge get commissioned by IR for train operations ? It is believed that the old bridge
that is over 120 years old is in a dilapidated state and only supports an MPS of 30 Kmph but the new bridge may support an MPS of more than 100 Kmph for all trains :-)

Actually this Telegraph News Item states that trains have to follow a 30 Kmph Speed Restriction on the old Rickety Barakar Bridge :-p

News papers spread any shit they like.
Every bridge has a restriction given upon even a Loco's TE too. on some bridges, heavy passenger locos have to notch down, cause' too much TE is harmful and same applies to a heavy freight trains/locos.

Broad Gauge once said he felt what 'Ecstasy' meant. Now Metre Gauge realised what the same Word felt.
In our lives there are some days, which we mark as D-Days. The Mundane gets in the loop line to give way to some Extraordinary feelings And one such day was the 6th of Feb 2014 when under the able and majestic guidance of Mr. PK Venkatramani, 11 of our IRI friends visited the CLW along with Maithon Dam and Kalyaneshwari Temple.
Mr. PKV boarded 12019 early in the morning to get some of his
professional work done. The rest had decided to catch 12325 Nangal Dam Weekly Express from Kolkata.
Accordingly, The 11 of us namely, Joydeep Roy, Kanishk Mitra, Sabyasachi Ghose, Husnain, Saikat Ghose, Dipyaman Basu, Gourab Bhattacharjee, Anal Ghosh, Vivian Boye, Chandril Bhowmick and your's truly got well in time at Kolkata with an array of snacks and savouries.
Getting into the already stationed train on PF 2 we waited for the link which turned out to be a HWH WAP 4 #22363.
as it crossed the snarls of famous Patipukur and Dum Dum, it raced to mps through the HB Chord with our 1993 made coach shivering voraciously. after a few minutes we opened the packets of snacks and also our RF minds. The Weekly SF which took us 15 mins before time at Asansol, never relented in between.

My first compilation video of onboard 12325 KOAA-NLDM Gurumukhi SF express during CLW trip,the train hauled by HWH WAP-4 #22363 and it had very aggressive run between KOAA(Kolkata terminus) and ASN resulting 10 minutes before time arrival at ASN(Asansol).

Asansol: Just 12 hours after the Howrah Rajdhani caught fire, the Delhi-Howrah Duronto Express had a narrow escape on Wednesday morning as vacuum pressure pipes and wiring in as many as eight bogies got mysteriously disconnected, some 16 hours into the journey.
Thankfully, the driver noticed the danger quickly and pulled the emergency brakes. Had the non-stop express been travelling at its full speed of 130kmph, it would have been a disaster as the train was just 500m from Barakar station and a bridge lay right ahead.
Two persons — canteen worker Shakti Singh and porter Shanti Bauri — suffered minor injuries when the sudden jerking of the bogies sent stones flying in the air. They were both hit on the head. The incident occurred hours before railway minister Mallikarjun Khage presented the railway budget in Lok Sabha.
According to sources, around 5.50am the motorman felt the train behaving oddly and immediately decided to stop. A quick check revealed that all the vacuum pressure pipes, gas chambers and wires under the bogies had been disconnected from coach seven to 14. He informed Asansol division and senior officials, including ADRM A K Shukla and senior divisional mechanical engineer Suman Raj rushed to start repairs. Scanner on maintenance
The Duronto was held up on the site till 10.16am. It reached Asansol at 10.41am, where passengers were given food and water, before leaving for Howrah at 10.56am.
Md Seikh Raja, who was travelling in S-5 coach, said he was sleeping when he felt a violent jerk and a noise. “I feel very lucky that a major accident was averted as the train was going slow. The bogies could have been derailed or one bogie could have smashed into another,” he said.
Shukla told reporters that maintenance of the train was done at Howrah and New Delhi stations. “It seems there was lack of maintenance, leading to this incident,” he said.
Many passengers were angry with the railways. “We were detained near Barakar for more than four hours due to the railways’ callousness,” said Suman Das of coach S-6.

As per my knowledge if vacuum pipe breaks automatically air leaks and breaks will apply.Rail breaks means releasing vacuum.You might have observed this when chain pulling happened.I can say bogies were detached....driver observed....and he might have controlled the speed and slowly both two parts of train stooped with out any disaster.

Once the pipe breaks off, then the issue comes in braking type. every pipe has to b connected when the coupling is done, specially the brake pipe n the power one.
