Traveled on 30 March, Shimla to Kalka, Engine Problem just 1 Km from starting point, train was taken to summer hill stn siding, it took the rail authorities 1 &1/2 hr to replace with another Engine from its base garage barely 1km away, reached kalka at 11.55pm. Passengers were seen tensed/running to catch connecting Kalka Howrah mail,
Compartment is old modified with locally made seats, roof leaking when rained. Catering very poor & cheap quality, cannot compare with Rajdhani as they announced.
Best to avoid this train on shimla-Kalka route

The train waits for its connecting kalka mail only upto a limit...passengers may miss shivalik if kalka mail is beyond 5 hrs late running...since shivalik has to return from shimla same day....plan accordingly...

Good and fresh food served after Borog. Enjoy the view a Borog while pantry person busy to pack your food. Change your seat position to the front as your need. Right side will be the best while traveling towards Shimla.

Excellent food available at Barog Station if u dont wanna hav cutlet or omelettes served on train.
Also pls note food will be served only after barog no matter how late the train is as its boarded at barog.
