If u'll arrive early u can take train early too
Or visit more places
If u r planning just 1day pilgrimage. Mathura can serve at best in short span too. Even if ur train gets delayed or u are able to reach mtj at 10, dnt worry u can go for almost major temples in that time.
Instead of asking from auto guys or take guide, follow these plan to utilise the day at best.

1. From station take an auto to Bhooteshwar for 10rs/head from there get an auto to janmabhoomi for rs5 or can walk too. OR directly hire a cyclerickshaw for rs 20/head.

2. It will be 12 till the time u'll get free frm Janmabhoomi. And all temples will be closed.

3. Take cycle rickshaw to Vishram ghat or get an auto to Vrindavan of rs 15/head. If going to vishram ghat, u'll have to return to Janmabhoomi for auto to Vrindavan. U can have very nice boating experience at Yamuna there.

4. After reaching Vrindavan(Bihariji Auto stand), take a cycle rickshaw of 35 to 50rs for 2, and ask him for "NidhiVan". U can walk also. When u'll reach there, go to Yamuna ghat and have pleasant boating experience, they will ask 150 to 250rs, bt stick to 40-60only for two. Enjoy ur lunch there at dhabas.

Vaishno Mata temple, a v large idol of Durgaji at left side from Delhi is best to identify.

Just take a 5min walk from highway and u'll reach the temple. Then after visiting temple take an auto rs 10 to 15/head for Iskcon or Banke Bihari ji. If it's 11 am u can visit iskcon temple or Prem Mandir.
