Hi all, We're visiting India in a couple of days. I tried booking a train from Ara to Varanasi but found it wasn't easy so booked from Delhi to Varanasi. We won't board the train though as per ticket and will get on in Tundla Junction. Do I need to inform Indian Railways somehow or will they just keep the berth open until we get on? Thanks for your help Nick
You can change boarding point at the time of booking itself. Now you can do that by giving letter at any railway reservation counter stating that you want to change boarding point. You have to carry ticket and any valid id proof
Thanks for the reply. I tired changing the boarding point but the system seemed to then change the ticket and said no wait list available so I thought easier just to pay the small extra amount and book from Delhi. I'll try and get the hotel to help us change when we arrive in Delhi on Thursday. Thanks for the info Nick
/faq/post/88 . Pls approach any reservation counter anywhere in the country atleast 24 hrs before departure with a hand written application requesting for a change, a copy of your ticket print out and a copy of your ID proof. You will not be issued a fresh ticket though once the change is made but it would be changed internally.
