Good decision to start with......Need to divert all the SFs from that route,I guess Karmabhoomi will be the next to follow.Though Region Specific trains should stay.That will help to facillitate better DEMU runns,I/C runs and some of the Very Very Important trains of that region like KanchanKanya.Hope daily passengers ke 'Ab ache din aane wale hain'

my take is the doubling will take too much time...can consider the doubling till Raninagar.....and then patch doubling...........chalo SMTA-NCB tak bhi ho jayega.....par NCB TO JALPAIGURI RD bahut time lagega......best option to expedite the 80%completed work of NQH-MAYNAGURI RD JN-NCBD-NCB.......trains can un interuptedly come from New Domohoni to Fakiragram via this route.Why not complete the work in 6 months and start the trains by Jan,2015.That will take off a lot of freights,passengers,Express trains and effectively de congest.

we're not expecting such thing which wont matrialise ever...technically u're correct..atleast 70-75 km still can be patch doubled,but it is the same authorities has to be approached who're not allocating funds for feasible SMTA RQJ project...will they allocate funds for doubling inside forest? Moreover,no political lobby from this area who're having any kind of connection with Rly Ministry to expedite the projects....Not only doubling of main line,even the fencing of Elephant Corridor,construction of guardwall everything requires huge amt of fund...But who'll sanction?
Moreover people regularly complains through this forum that WB & Bihar has always got huge share of trains in every rail budget..But that is partially true & applicable for ER-SER portion not for the NFR portion...The non-suburban stations in ER

for eg,Rampurhat,Bolpur,Azimganj,Barddhaman,Durgapur,Katwa etc which doesnt have a Single pit line has each got atleast 15-25 DEMU/EMU/Pass each day..but look @ the situation in NFR...there are quite a few distt HQ's which are having 4-5 passenger trains in a day...this is discrimination @ its best in a democratic state.

dont xpect SMTA-RQJ doubling to be done in 1 or 2 years......Its not going to happen and also i a situation when there are multiple bridges,small cuverts etc.So the only solution is to complete the '80% completed'NQH-MAYNAGURI RD JN-NCBD-NCB section and divert freights,passengers and some Weeklies initially which can entirely facilitate EC and NCB-NJP.Yes a substantial amount of fund is being allocated for SMTA-RQJ but will it be able to fulfill that.I have my reservations.
