The Derailment Saga in IR is continuing Superbly in this Year so far. Yesterday we have seen Local Train Derailment in Velachery-Chennai Beach MRTS line and Muri Express Derailment, in both of the Cases "Poor Track Maintenance" is the Cause. However, "Lack of Maintenance" account for most of the Derailment in IR so far in this Year(News Entries in support of this statement have already shared here). Today also goods Train derailment in Saharanpur New Delhi Line disrupts the Rail Traffic completely(/news/post/244062).

"Progress of Track Electrification in IR" is also very Poor after so many years as per the Railway Electrification Map on /news/post/244030
Apart from this "Food Poisoning in Meals Served in Trains by Rodents, Cockroach etc" has now become a "Very Regular Issue" in Trains. Painfully AC Premium Trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto etc are the "Worst Target" of such Food Poisoning.(News Entries and blogs already shared here).[No Control on IRCTC by the Railway Board which glaringly proves from such incidents].
Still the MPS of Trains on IR is "Like the Running of a Tortoise" taking mammoth time to reach destination.(Except very Few Trains).
Mr Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, our Hon'ble RM seems very Loyal to his Responsibilities, also finalizing many projects each day,making surveys by International experts, always voice for more investment to make Railways modern and better in future like other developed countries of the World i.e China, Japan, Germany etc no doubt in it.(Gatiman Exp, the 1st Semi High Speed Train of IR in AGC NDLS Route is still in the Dark of Uncertainty)
BUT,
Is any Progress made in Indian Railways in terms of Safety and Security of Freight and Passenger Traffic ??????
OR
IR is REDUCING FROM BAD TO WORSE with respect to it's position as it was at the time of the Predecessors of Mr Prabhu ??????

Looks like some minor problems with the first WAP5 with IGBT traction. Also, this WAP5 has got TCN compliant VCU in place of the proprietary MICAS-S2, which means it has got the indigenously developed hardware + software and some components. More details :-

Thank God and you too! the WAP-5 is now plying in IR. It was a grave Concern for me,now I am relieved. However, WAP-5 issues is in no way less critical than Hitachi Traction Motor. WAP-5 is a very Critical Loco. So, CLW and Firms need to pay more attention on it while producing any unit of it at CLW in future. This Loco is a challenge of CLW and it's success itself "Glorify CLW Immensely" than the success story of other two 3-Phase Variants WAP-7 and WAG-9. Besides WAP-5 production needs to be completely stabilized and increased in the ensuing years in CLW.

Basically, whatever changes IR introduces to WAG9 can be directly implemented on WAP7 too as both are very much identical. That's why WAG9 got IGBT first, WAP7 next! However, WAP5 is radically different as compared to both of them and any change introduced P7/G9 cannot be directly implemented on these Bo-Bo type locomotives. That's why it took a while for P5 to get IGBT. These minor glitches can be fixed over a period of time. Once P4's production stops, the production of three phasers (WAP5, WAP7 and WAG9) will be ramped up.
BTW, I found them quite rugged. The equipment failures reported on WAP5 are certainly lower than those of P7 and G9.

Yes. The equipment failures reported on WAP5 are certainly lower than those of P7 and G9. But it's Production rate is very Low.It needs to be increased as because you have to "Balance the Load of Passenger Traffic in IR for the Coming Years" in between P-5 and P-7.(Specially after retirement of WAM-4,WAP-1 and WAG-5 Classes and some WAP-4s). It will be " Quite Impractical" to "Overburden P-7 with more trains like WAP-4 now". Rather equally distribute the Load between P-5 and P-7 as because "Immense Overburden may lead to recurring Failure of WAP-7 ". So P-5 has to come as a "Reliable and Robust Alternative for Load Sharing in IR regarding Passenger Traffic in future.
