Thanks for reply.
Some useful info on the route:
1. Matheran is famous hill station among tourists & only in the country where vehicles are not allowed. This service is used by the tourists going to Matheran and local peolpe there.
2. Neral-Matheran is single line and train halts at intermediate stations to clear line for return trains (Matheran to Neral). (Also see...
more... Entry# 482880 and crossings in time-table of NRL-MAE). There are 2 platforms at these 3 stations.
2. Presently these trains run with diesel loco but Previously they were using "steam engines" that need water. So, the halt used to fill water named as "Water pipe" station. This station is in dense forest & there is no any other building/houses/hotels etc. near it.
3. MTDC (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation) resort is near the station 'Aman lodge' (just 2 km before Matheran) and halt is created here to alight the tourist passengers who wish to go for MTDC resort (but they have to take Matheran ticket).
4. All other passengers go to Matheran itself.
5. Though these toy trains have UR II class,
no. of II class tickets available on window = no. of seats in II class coach
Any person in Q gets max. 4 tickets only.
