Rly minister himself have abdicated his powers, importance & the high profile/ opportunity to present budget in parliament. But this has immediately given following advantages to the almost financially sick IR:
(1) Waiver of payment of anuual dividend to the tune of Rs 10,000 crores to govt of India
(2) GoI/ Fin ministry now has more attachment to IR and is ready to take more of its financial burden. Record 55,000 crore gross budgetary support has come very handy for IR, especially keeping in view the stagnation in bulk freight loading.
