A Nice Evening Well Planned out in Advance by some Old and Familiar Faces of Kolkata residents IRI/IR Fans happened to happen on 29th July 2012 at 530pm at some place which rather being Singled out later to be "Indian Coffee House"- a place not only nostalgic in value but a remembrance of Golden oldies where few stalwarts of yesteryears like Famous Director Satyajit Ray,Manna Dey,Amartya Sen and some others has spent some Quality time present and future of lot of things.
But as things panned out closer to the date,BG,Arkya and Saikat had to miss out due to their personal commitments and it was left to PKV,Myself and Souvik to attend the so called "Evening time pass cum Gup-Shup".

from 2pm which threatened at times that we might have to miss out on a Quality Planned Time-Pass.However around 4 pm , Rain God decided that our meet must continue and hence we were on road to our planned destination - The Indian Coffee House.
I reached there at 520pm while PKV Sir and Shantanu followed soon after within 15 minutes and we were Off to the famous Indian Coffee House.As we stepped in, we found ONLY 1 table consisting of 6 Chairs to be Vacant(Probably in anticipation that all the 6 invitees would turn up for the Evening) and we chose to occupy 3 Chairs with a table.
And Soon we hit the Discussion with a topic of these intercity Trains Specially Shatabdi and others where there were lots of discussions have been on rounds in IRI.We decided to explore the status of RNC Shatabdi.

PART -I BOARDING OF WAIT LISTED PASSENGERS IN TRAINS.
A. We first took up the issue of whether WL passengers can join the confirmed passengers and hop on to a reserved coach by virtue of a partially confirmed e tickets. Mr. Singh's response was a BIG NO vindicating my stand which has been aired on this site umpteen number of times. He pointed out to the remark on the passenger charts in his possession which clearly mentioned that " WL passengers are not PERMITTED to board RESERVED COACHES". He said it made no difference whether the coach was a CHAIR CAR (with a single seat for each passenger leaving no scope for adjustment) or a SLEEPER COACH. He also confirmed that it was IMMATERIAL whether the names of such WL passengers appeared in the charts or not. According to him, the...

names of WL passengers figuring in partially confirmed e tkts appeared in the charts MERELY because such tickets were not subject to automatic cancellation. This again was to provide such passengers with the option of SOME (confirmed) or NONE undertaking the journey. The THIRD OPTION for all of them to board the train was NOT AVAILABLE. I think the position is now CRYSTAL CLEAR. Mr. Singh was also of the opinion that all tickets should prominently bear a msg that WL passengers are not PERMITTED to board RESERVED COACHES.
