I understand it but if Suez Canal can be made then they can work for a channel as well. It will not length more then 5 KM.

Mandapam to Rameshwaram is easily possible. Denmark done two projects similar (orsund bridge between copenhegan and malma and Great Belt fixed link between two major islands inside denmark).They are constructing now one to germany two. Two railway+ 4 way for road+1 way for maintainence vehicles. but Cost is huge. If we have strong political will to proceed then it is not a big deal to construct.
