Wooden sleepers are used on bridges and turnouts because they are very easily cut and sized on site to fit the peculiarities of the particular stretch of track. Wooden sleepers were also preferred for bridges because they are lighter compared to the concrete sleepers, and provide additional damping for vibrations. Excuse Me If U can Visit #Firozpur Cantt station u will see only Wooden sleepers no Concrete or Steel or iron Sleepers are used. ON PF No1 Wooden Sllepers are with Greenery plants are there and nobody cuts it on PF no 2 Wooden Sleepers are totally disapaered under Ground only Railtracks and Rats Holes are Visible. On Pf no 3,4 &5 all are dissapeared only Garbage is Found on the tracks nobody cares to clean it

The conventional gaps are, at some places, replaced by diagonally cut junctions. This allows lateral expansion of larger lengths of the track thereby minimizing their number to a few in many kilometers. Logically here you do not need to set the gap to a fixed distance. It adjusts as per need. This MAY be a possible explanation to this. The image attached was taken by me at NDLS where its not tough to find such junctions.
