Feb 11 2016 (07:30)   Extend rail services to Vijayapura, demands samiti

The Railway Horata Samiti of the district has demanded that the Ministry of Railways extend some of the train services to Vijayapura and has urged the Union Government to announce the same in the upcoming railway budget.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu was not planning to introduce new trains in his budget, Vishwanath Bhavi, president of the samiti, has stated in a release.
Hence, Mr. Suresh Prabhu should extend the services of trains already operating, he added.
Mr.

Bhavi said that since 2014, Solapur has trains directly to Mumbai six days a week.
The train starts from Solapur at 8:30 p.m. and reaches Mumbai at 6 a.m. For long, the Samiti has been demanding that the Union government start the train from Vijayapura instead of Solapur, as there is no direct train to Mumbai from here.
Instead of starting the train at 8:30 p.m. from Solapur, the same train could be started from Vijayapura at 5:30 p.m.
Mr. Bhavi said that with certain changes, it is easy for the railways to extend this facility to Vijayapura.
Mr. Bhavi urged the government to meet the long pending demand of reducing the journey hours of the Gol Gumbaz Express to ensure that the train reaches Bengaluru and Mysuru at least two hours earlier compared to the present timings.
He also urged the Railway Ministry to make the train a 24-bogie train to accommodate more passengers, the press release added.

Dec 08 2015 (09:39)   Postcard campaign seeks additional train services

With track doubling work on the Mysuru-Bengaluru section completed, the public have been demanding additional trains between the two cities.
The Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) has launched a postcard campaign pressing for additional services and more than 600 post cards have been sent to the local MP, Pratap Simha. Another 400 cards will be despatched shortly. MGP volunteers have travelled in trains between Mysuru and Bengaluru to collect signatures of commuters for the purpose.N.S. Pradeep Kumar and S. Yogendra of the parishat have said that the completion of the project has augmented the line capacity by 50 per cent and it was time for the railway authorities to introduce additional services between Mysuru and Bengaluru.
“People

of Mysuru want a train from Bengaluru to Mysuru between 5 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. to reduce the load of Chamundi Express which was running with more than 200 per cent of its passenger capacity,” said Mr. Kumar and Mr. Yogendra.
This is a long-pending demand and the MGP has submitted representations to Mysuru Division and South Western Railway headquarters at Hubballi, apart from elected representatives of the region. The issue was also raised by Sudhakar Shetty at the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee meeting held recently , they added.
Meanwhile, a railway official said that further to commissioning of services on the newly-laid track, the running time of the trains may be progressively reduced. The Commissioner for Railway Safety (CRS) has cleared the Naganahalli-Yeliyuru section for a maximum speed of 90 km per hour and the speed limit would be adhered to which will help reduce running time. With the Railway Budget for 2016-17 to be tabled in February, fresh proposals from the division will also be submitted to the Railway Board for consideration and additional trains may be sanctioned in view of the completion of track doubling, the official said.

SWR SHOULD HAVE CHANGED THE TIMINGS OF HUBLI-MUMBAI DAIL EXP VIA MIRAJ, LOOK AT SOUTHERN RAILWAY CHENNAI MOST OF THE CITIES OF TAMILNADU ARE WELL CONNECTED TO CHENNAI SO THAT EVEN 2-3 EXP TRAINS FROM NEIGHBOURING STATES ALSO REACH IN THE MORNIING. SWR RAIL AUTHORITIES FAILED TO TO DO SO. THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE LTT HUBLI TO REACH ATLEAST BY 4-30 PM EVEN IF THEY REMOVE HUBLI -LONDA LINK EXP , SAME BOGIES CAN BE CARRIED BY LTT HUBLI EXP ALSO , WHILE COMING ALSO THEY CAN ATTCH FROM LONDA.
THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE CONNECTVITY OF HUBLI-SEC EXP TO SUR-PUNE HUTATMA EXP
...
SO THAT PEOPLE WILL GET BETTER CONNECTIVITY TOWORDS MUMBAI FROM HUBLI. THAT MEANS HUBLI-SEC SHOULD RUN VIA SOLAPUR. SUR PEOPLE WILL GET CONNECTIVITY TO HYDRABAD DAILY.
HUBLI -CHENNAI CENTRAL EXP SHOULD BE MADE 4 DAYS A WEEK SO THAT WITH OTHER TWO TRAINS TO CHENNAI WILL BECOME ALMOST DAILY TRAIN TO CHENNAI FROM HUBLI.
MG TRAIN VASCO- BANGALORE EXP IS STILL RUNNING AS A BIWEEKLY TRAIN , ALTERNATIVE TO THIS IN BG JUST TO MAKE AN EYE WASH RAILWAYS ARE ATTACHING LINK EXP TO RANI CHENNMMA FROM VASCO- HNIZAMUDDIN EXP THEN AT LONDA IT WILL BE ATTCHED TO RANI CHENNAMMA IT I IS REALLY AS AN EYEWASH.
GOA IS STATE AND DONOT HAVE PROPER RAIL CONNECTIVITY TO BANGALORE.
EVEN TIMINGS OF VASCO- YPR ARE NOT PROPER.
WHY MG DAILY TRAIN VSG-SBC IS STILL NOT RESTORED.WHEN THEY CAN RUN NIGHT SERVICE TRAINS TO NEIGHBOURING STATES REACH IN EARLY MORNIING WHY IT IS NOT APPLICABLE INTER STATE TRAFFIC. CONNECTING DIFFERENT PARTS OF STATES.
HUBLI-SUR INTERCITY SHOULD BE CONNECTED IN SUCH A WAY THAT WE SHOULD GET CONNECTVITY TO SUR-MUM DAILY EXP. IT WILL REDUCE THE BURDEN , THERE IS NO NEED OF WEEKLY EXP BETWEEN HUBLI-AND MUMBAI VIA SUR.THEASE RAKES CAN BE UTILISED FOR ANY OTHER TRAIN.
NO MENTION OF SBC-MAQ MUCH NEEDED AT PRESENT.

Bangalore (SBC): Work on doubling of the railway line between Yelahanka and Penukonda on the Bengaluru-Dharmavaram section, which was announced in the recent Railway Budget, is slated to begin by October this year.
This was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Constructions, South Western Railway, Ashok Gupta told Express that Railway Board officials and CAOs from across the country were present to review railway projects.

had received a letter during March-end calling for fast-tracking of all the line doubling projects, particularly the Yelahanka-Penukonda section. The high-level meeting reiterated this,” he said.
The 121-km line doubling work will take three years to complete from the time of commencement, Gupta added. The route is a vital link between Bengaluru and North India.
“The existing yards at the stations have to be modified, platforms extended and the second line has to be laid. We are in the process of preparing estimates and inviting tenders,” he added.
The existing line is saturated as long-distance trains like Karnataka Express, Rajdhani Express and Sampark Kranti Express run along this line. So, a second line will help introduce new trains and decongest traffic, another top railway official said. Gupta said the budget had permitted `958 crore to be raised through Extra Budgetary Resources (Institutional Financing) for the project. A five-year MoU signed with the LIC, worth `1.5 lakh crore, would take care of funding for the project, he added.
Land Acquisition
The state government has not notified rules under the new Land Acquisition Act, thereby stalling several railway projects supposed to be done on a cost-sharing basis between the State and the Centre, Gupta said.
“We require 14,000 acres of land for 11 projects planned by the South Western Railway division. Only 4,000 acres have been acquired by the State government. There won’t be progress on new projects till the remainder is obtained,” the official said.
Work on railway lines between Tumakuru-Chitradurga-Davangere (200 km), Shivamogga-Harihar (79 km), Gadag-Wadi (252 km), Whitefield-Kolar (53 km), Hajjalapur-Chamarajnagar (140 km), Chikkamagaluru-Sakleshpur (47 km) have not begun at all due to land issues, he said.
He also said other projects in which work has begun, like the Tumakuru-Rayadurga, Bagalkot-Kudachi, Ginigera-Raichur have not made progress due to land issues.
On the status of other projects, the CAO said, “The Bengaluru-Hassan broad guage line via Nelamangala, Kunigal and Shravanabelagola will be completed by the year-end and will be declared open for traffic by March 2016.”
The Ramanagaram-Mysuru double line (except the 1.5-km stretch along the Cauvery bridge and Tipu Armoury) will be commissioned by October this year, he said.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
