Dont expect it soon. The whole route from Pune to Renigunta has been neglected for decades. I have been traveling in these trains right from the time now CST-Chennai express use to start from Dadar must be in 90's. This line use to be single line all the way throught. The electrification of the guntakal- renigunta section has taken more than 15 yrs.
A fully double electrified track from mumbai to chennai line is very long time.

The reason i assume is the section between Pune to arrakonam JN ( important junction before chennai) none of the 3 railway division it falls under ( Central, South central and southern railways ) give route any important. for central there pune bhusawal line is more important, for south central Hyderabad , Visakhapatnam's and they have electrified there line in guntakal. And southern railways the track under them is less than 100 km so they dont care much. The other thing is this line does not even has enough goods traffic. apart from the few cement factories nothing else to haul. container traffics is very less. This route has no industrial belts in between. I have visitied small towns in this routes, stayed for just 1 day break journey in mattralayam road. Adoni, kadapaa. I always recommend railway retiring rooms. in mattralayam road and adoni the rooms are on the 1 st platform. There was hardly any traffic on the track all day or on station, apart from the 6-7 important trains which pass through here. rest of the time the odd passenger train comes which are mostly empty
There is no interest in developing this route.
