who travelling 14 districts from Kerala and Banglore and near places it will be very convenient , Nothing going to lost if introduce New trains
from Banglore to to any direction even it Shornur, Ernakulam or Trivandrum.
Because 99% Malayalees buy the ticket and travel.
The majority of people travelling from Banglore to Kerala in weekends that means Friday Night to Kerala and Sunday Night from Kerala Banglore. If railway can not introduce new trains at least they can rearrange the existing trains to run Weekends Fridays and Sundays, And Currently special Trains is there 0678/0677 are running up to Jan last week 2010, please extend these trains and do the continues service .
If Railways put 2 or 3 trains as special trains from Friday to Kerala and Sundays to Banglore city , I can give guarantee 100% always full , Railway can do bette service and helps for our people.
Today I went (4/01/2010) for Booking the Tickets for March 04 2010, from Thrissur to Banglore , But all the trains full , I got the Ticket as waiting list 79. I am not sure whether it confirm or not, I tried first 6525/ Island Express but waiting list 120,so I booked the another train but waiting list 79. We are helpless sir , please do some arrangements
NB :It helps People who are working and studying and doing business and tourists and short term trips

Yes Mr. Paul has a strong point. His agony, which transpires that of many, is apparent from the numerous identical blogs posted by him.

I am not sure Chhabra Ji. Maybe it is true or maybe it was just to make fun of the timings of the train. It takes about 4hrs just to cover Delhi...this is amazing.

Shri Jitesh ji*: Jan 14 (08:20PM)
A lot of trains is there where these ExCeSsIvEly excessive durations are given. I have tried a lot to understand but fail to.
Just to report the train (on) right time (or before) on the terminating stations, Railways is stealing millions of Man-Hours. In between BUFFER is further contributing.
Thanks !

Manish ji,
You are recollecting rightly. And one more citation is Blog Entry No. 3036 where the blogger enjoyed this train with his GF because he had got much more time to spend with her Company, in blessings from this Train.

There can be many reasons for buffer time
eg. signal failure at any point during journey
Locomotive failure
OHE failure
speed restrictions
unscheduled
...
halt at intermediate station allowing faster trains to pass through
and many more ...
A few months back while I was travelling by a train it was delayed by half an hour
The reason ?
It was shocking and unbelievable ...
A man had committed suicide travelling by general compartment.
It was noticed only the next day .
Not to suggest that such things are common but this was truly not imaginable even by die hard pessimists
Not all reasons can be documented but yes ...
a travelling time of 2 hrs for 10 kms distance is streching things a bit too far

Today I went Banswadi Station to check feasibility from Banswadi Stn to Public Transport. BMTC Bus will get After 10 minutes walk Either Majestic(300)/Shivaji Nagar (302) and for KR Puran same numbers opp. direction. But station is developing only, only few trains have stop there. I observed one lots malayalies Staying near to Station Raod, The "Jai Bharath Nagar " is the bus Stop name, If the person Wants to go Martha
hally area then He can catch KR Puram Bus (not KR puran Stn)and get down in RamaMurthi Nagar (in Outer Ring

Road) and catch 500 Bues which goes to Marathahalli/TIN Factory .

I agree with that it's very help ful to the people, in 1992 I travelled this route , now I can't I magine how people this much patient for this long train.
I think so , Still only one train is there daily train is there to go to Delhi, it is too shame full railway ,
Only common people travel these trains. All VVIP and VIP's , Highr Govt. babus ,MP,MLA's almost gave up these Delhi bound trains, now they used to Fly fromTVM,COK,Calicut etc.
Manily

who will use these trains you know Business Executuves ,Govt. clerks, Railway Emp.,Miltary forces, and Nurses who works delhi, and ordinary people.

This train is the only direct train from kannur to Bangalore. currently the trains enters bangalore from the south through hosur and then take a large circular path to reach the north end station yeshwantpur. If it has stop in Banaswadi, people who are in other parts of Bangalore can get down and thus save time and travel.

In spite of repeated demands from passengers from Malabar side going to Bangalore, Indian Railways are still keeping this train service restricted to 3 days in week. If Mr. E.Ahamed, Minister of State for Railways still cannot do anything to make it a daily train to Bangalore, it shows there are some vested interests in the Railways who want to support the private bus lobby ans block this move. Matters regarding train services, halts etc, are not decided in the Indian Railways according to passenger convenience, but some other hidden interests or motives. It is quite unfortunate that anything moves in right direction in the Railways only when people agitate and resort to some extreme steps. A much needed stop for this train at Banaswadi was allowed only after pressure was built up by passengers associations. Now it is time to focus on putting efforts to make this train a...

That train started when Railway started British Raj, that train we call it as historical ,train . When my child hood , my father said like his gr. father a have furniture shop in shivaj nagar, he used to come this train . he died 1973. and my gr.died 2004. This is the only train daily trip to banglore and southern part Kerala. please read more in wikpedia.
More than 2 Lac Malayalies it self leaving Banglore and suburbs, Average 10,000 people commuting daily inbetween these sectors,
...

first these poor people gave the preference these trains, next chance they try buses any state bus which geoes their destination or any other ways like fly or car depends upon his money and urgency, that is the fact. even though many trains railway introduced , still this is only one daily train is running from BLR.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Island_Express_(train)
The Island Express is an Indian Railways train running between Bangalore and Kanyakumari. Train# 6526 runs from Bangalore to Kanyakumari, and Train# 6525 runs in the reverse direction. The train runs daily via Coimbatore, and covers the 944 km route in about 20 hours.
No part of the train's route is on an island; the name was given because the predecessor of this train used to start its journey from the Cochin Harbour Terminus station in Willingdon Island, Kochi, Kerala, (Cochin) till the late 1970s. At that time, it was the only train that connected Bangalore (Karnataka state) to Kerala.
Later this train became Nagarcoil Express after the gauge conversion between cochin and Nagercoil via Trivandrum. Later it was extended to Kanniyakumari.
The Island Express also experienced a horrible railway accident when a large number of its coaches fell into the lake Ashtamudi Kayal while crossing the railway bridge. Hundreds lost their lives. The driver of the train was later declared unfit for driving. See: Peruman railway accident
Timings
This train leaves Bangalore at 21:40 hours to reach Kanyakumari at 18:00 hours the next day. This is the only daily train between Bangalore and Kerala. For the return trip, this train leaves Kanyakumari at 10:30 hours to reach Bangalore at 6:55 AM.
