MAO has great retiring rooms. But MAO is a little far from the town. This online booking stuff is absolute nonsense. They simply don't exist. I tried booking retiring rooms after seeing the newspaper story but in a few stations but even the staff at PRS or the matron didn't have a clue about it. Best is to go directly and MAO has lot of rooms and always vacant.

in rest of my places i will be staying at hotels. Tejas sir has already warned me about YPR.

i will be reaching YPR at 10 in the night so at least a night stay should be somewhere near Yesvantpur station if not in the retiring room.

2 bottles of sealed alcohol is allowed legally. Beer allowance might be more. I always carry 2 bottles whenever I travel and had no problems. I even asked a Delhi policeman who was on Karnataka Express and he said the same.

Am sorry but beer is not inflammable. Your shaving foam,cough syrups and deo sprays contain more alcohol. If beer is so inflammable they would never carry it in airplanes.

Any liquor over 80 proof (40% alcohol) will catch fire very easily. Beer will not due to it's relatively low alcohol percentage

Nowhere does it say alcohol is prohibited. Of course consumption is prohibited but carrying couple of sealed bottles as gifts I think is perfectly legal. You can ask any alcohol vendor in Goa and they all say no need for permits under 2 bottles. My bags have been checked so many times on trains and I always carry 2 bottles with me and no problems whatsoever. Of course have been caught a few times drinking which is illegal.

Its illegal to carry beer/Alcohol in trains, request you to end this blog and you can carry it on your own risk

Who told you that beer is not inflamable ? And will the TTE or RPF leave you anyway, if you are caught carrying it ?

Beer according to me is 100% not flammable. Anyways I always carry 2 bottles of alcohol with me on my train trips as I said earlier. I have been checked a few times and all I said it was a gift and had no problems. This is my personal experience. In TVC Rajdhani I have had drinks with the TS and a Brigadier(I know it is unlawful). My take is as long as you don't bother others it should be ok. I carry 2 bottles because I don't trust alcohol from other states(except Goa). All this is my personal opinion.

Spot on my friend. All photographs in any Railway Premises is illegal and has more consequences than carrying alcohol.

Railway photography is mostly prohibited in major stations.

That is also Illegal if you don't have permission,many RFs search for RPF around before taking snaps...But for this you can take permission and do so but for drinking they won't give permission.

GRP or RPF have no authority to give permission to take pics. In India everything works. Let me narrate an incident in Karnataka express in January 2013. A GRP guy caught me for drinking. My neighbors were Delhi Police who were taking an accused to Bangalore. This GRP guy told me to come near the door. He threatened me to give some money. I paid him Rs 100 and after that he gave his name and told me keep drinking and no one will catch you. I came back and narrated the incident to my Delhi Police neighbors. They made sure I got my money back.

I didn't tell GRP or RPF have rights give permission for photography inside Railway premises. About the incident guess not required to discuss further.

Old rates. Am posting the new rates. PC guys charge even more than the new rates. Instead of tea for Rs5 they say masala chai and charge Rs10 or 7. The first is price at stn and the next for inside train.

Thanks. Post travel complaints are taken less seriously. Besides half of the people do not complain.... This is just an initiative for JAGO YATRI JAGO.... Pax should stand up immediately so that slowly but surely the food quality of IR increases.....

These are the current rates. I have been paying these rates for breakfast and meals for a while now. Static and Mobile with effect from 12 December, 2012. Tea and coffee rates vary from train to train.

Till about late 90s the train from Copenhagen to Stockholm used to go travel on a ferry(Whole train) from Helsinor(Denmark) to Helsinbourg(Sweden). Nowadays after the Oresund bridge this doesn't happen often. I used to travel in summer on this ride almost every week. During summer time those days lot of backpackers never bought a ticket so did I. Trains used to be much more crowed than some of the Indian ones

now i see that the trains are fairly empty.

you know the length of LHB coach? check it out. and you know the formula speed = distance/time

I think by using simple mathematics :)
