Overtake happens normally at Hoshangabad. I have witnessed this many times, travelling from NDLS to JBP. At that time it used to go up till Varanasi. Was one of the best trains of ET-ALD section. sadly, with the extension has lost its priority completely. Just one query, was it a superfast in its heydays, when it used to travel till Varanasi Jn. Senior members can please reply. no it was never superfast in its old days. Its old number after extension was 5217/8/9/20 Okay, I just had this query because I travelled on it from JBP to Mumbai, when LTT was known as Kurla Terminus. After, JBP its first halt was Itarsi. still this is one of the best train on this route between mumbai-allahabad, even with lots of stoppages it maintain good speed. This was the first express train to run on aly-gyn-bsb line after gauge conversion. However, speed & punctuality it simply does not even come close to 12001. On both occasions 12260 was delayed by 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs. While 12001, was on time at NDLS on one occassion, while in my recent journey on 23rd June it arrived at NDLS 10 min. before time despite leaving from BPL 10 min. late. I guess this settles the debate in terms of speed which is the king. In fact, 12001 is not the king, but "THE GOD" of all trains in IR. According to me, The existing RM Mukul Roy is Jealous of BPl Shatabdi over Sealdah Duronto for Didi and WR, so he hay have taken this action 4 posts are hidden. Click to open. This train used to have a pantry car, however because lots of railway officials indulged in "Muftkhori" it was a loss making scenario, hence discontinued. Hope, it is reinstated, its a fantastic train, probably one of the best Sampark Krantis. It was to be extended because of occupancy issues. But then cancelled because of protests. But, nowadays running pretty packed from JBP. Hence, no question of extending it, however a new Superfast from ALD to Mumbai can be thought of, provided ALD division does not screw up the punctuality of the trains. In this budget it was said they are trying to reduce travel time between howrah delhi 17hr to 14hr. but they are forgetting that average time taken by all train in this route is almost 24hours between kolkata to...
