it is not understood why the godavari express has to overtake the gt express, a legendary train (with much higher end to end speed,) between warangal and vijayawada. the gt express is a much more important train than the godavari express connecting the national capital, new delhi with bhopal, nagpur, and chennai comparatively the godavari express connects only to one state capital, hyderabad. it seems the indian railways, and particularly the southern railway have bowed down to political and.or local pressures, to insult a grand old legendary train, by scheduling godavari express to overtake the gt express for no reason whatsoever, as the arrival time of these trains at vijayawada differs only by a few minutes - the gt express could well precede the godaveri express and proceed to chennai.

more... late it is seen that the legendary trains like the gt express, howrah - delhi-kalka mail, howrah mumbai mail, howrah chennai mail are not being given the importance they deserve. it is high time that before introducing a new train, the indian railways give due consideration to the possibility of existing legendary trains on the route, if any, can serve the purpose by rescheduling its timings and/or modifying its coach composition instead of introducng a faster train on that route.
it is desirable that by all means overtaking of legendary trains by less important trains (on national level) like godavari express, janmabhoomi express, prashanti express,(admittedly all three are popular state (not national) level) trains) azad hind express, etc be avoided.
