There was an extremely useful and trend-setting blog post by an IRI member which highlighted his crusade against deficiencies in services while travelling by a premier SF train of IR. The post detailed how he sought redressal of his grievances by way of an SMS to the quoted mobile number and how it paved the way for prompt remedial action by the railway authorities. However, that blog unfortunately got derailed and diverted in course of time with an inane and parochial query regarding whether he had an opportunity to eat IDLI/SAMBAR and soon became adorned with controversial overtones. But be that as it may, there is no gainsaying the fact that the member in question had rendered a yeoman service to the rail... Read more... 22 posts are hidden. Others include MYS Rajya Rani, Island, Nilgiri, The Nilgiri toy train and KV! :) Does these stations have retiring rooms. if yes, then is there any net booking facility or only spot bookings are done. and what are the conditions of tose rooms? are they worth staying? PUNE CSTM MAO MAJN YPR YPR is in bad shape. Avoid. Many months back, MAJN too didnt have a proper facility,MAJN admins will give a better idea. i would be visiting all these places serially in October. so are there good hotels in and around YPR (budget hotels, not on the higher side)? There are decent ones meters away from the station. BG and Mr Nambyar recently made use of these for their short stays. will there be too much pressure during october or i will get them on spot? If family then certainly hotels. but in case of retiring rooms staying complicacies are there no? from some other sources i found out that excluding date of journeys one can stay for 24 hrs only. don't know if its correct. but if good and economical hotels are there nearby stations, then well, i might go for them. MAO has great retiring rooms. But MAO is a little far from the town. This online booking stuff is absolute nonsense. They simply don't exist. I tried booking retiring rooms after seeing the newspaper story but in a few stations but even the staff at PRS or the matron didn't have a clue about it. Best is to go directly and MAO has lot of rooms and always vacant. thanks sir for the info. i will be staying at MAO for a day only and it shouldn't be a problem. Stay around Malleswaram. Decent place. gotta go there. hopefully autos will be available to Malleswaram at that hour. Autos shouldn't be a problem at YPR. Hardly 2 km. I reached Delhi on the morning of the 18th of May. One of our Delhi-based members had in a pvt post to me enquired if the two of us could meet that day in the evening, The venue was a mall in Mayur Vihar, my temporary place of stay. I had readily agreed to his suggestion. He also told me that he would be accompanied by a SURPRISE PACKAGE in the form of an ADMIN, whom he assured me I would be delighted to meet. The time for the meet was 5 pm but I was there at 4.15 pm. Signs of nervous anxiety to meet the member and the admin. They too were before time and came at 4.30 pm. And then began our discussions on rail and other sundry matters which lasted for almost a full 4 hours. I really didn't know how time flew in the company... Read more... 11 posts are hidden.
