No . If they would have had they would not have allowed booking. If booking is there , train will run , unless it gets cancelled due to circumstances on the particular day. Anyways this has extra rake so even if it is 20+ hrs late , it wont be cancelled easily.

No new trains on saturated routes
November 21 A day after the tragic derailment of Indore-Patna Express, the Railways today decided not to run new trains on certain over-saturated routes before decongesting the section with capacity augmentation. Besides, the national carrier also decided to go for retrofitting of all old conventional coaches with enhanced safety features of anti-climbing technology, like the ones in the modern Linke Hoffman Busch (LHB) coaches. “It has been decided in the board meeting not to launch new trains on the over-saturated routes. New trains will be pressed into service on these routes only after decongestion and capacity augmentation in the section," said a senior Railway Ministry official. There was a review of entire safety scenario at the
Railway Board meeting in the wake of the Indore-Patna Express derailment near Kanpur which has claimed at least 146 lives. It was also decided to step up manufacturing of LHB coaches for the complete replacement of conventional coaches manufactured at Integrated Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. LHB coaches have anti-climbing feature which prevent them from toppling and piling-up in case of derailment. However, since the old ICF coaches are being replaced in a gradual manner, it was decided to equip all new ICF coaches with safety couplers. — PTI

LOL what happens to all the humsafars , and congestion is not the only cause .. this train was running on a relatively less congested route . Some sections have inherently poor infrastructure eg BSB section even though congestion is less

नई दिल्ली(21 नवंबर): इंदौर-पटना एक्सप्रेस रेल हादसे में हैरान कर देने वाली रिपोर्ट सामने आई है। ट्रेन के ड्राइवर जलत शर्मा की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक झांसी के बाद ही उन्हें खतरे के बारे में पता चला था। जिसके बारे में उन्होंने अफसरों को भी बताया। लेकिन उन्होंने ट्रेन को कानपुर तक ले जाने के लिए कहा।
- रात करीब 1 बजे ट्रेन ड्राइवर जलत शर्मा ने अफसरों को खतरे के संकेत दे दिए थे। झांसी से चलने के बाद दो स्टेशन पार होते ही उन्हें इंजन मीटर पर अधिक लोड दिखा।
- उन्होंने
तुरंत साथी डीपी यादव को बताया। इसके बाद झांसी मंडल के अफसरों को जानकारी दी। लेकिन वहां से कहा गया कि ट्रेन को जैसे-तैसे कानपुर तक ले जाओ, फिर देखेंगे।
- झांसी डिविजन के इस ड्राइवर ने सेंट्रल स्टेशन पर चालक लॉबी में सौंपी रिपोर्ट में बताया कि तड़के 3:03 बजे ओएचई केबल (ओवरहेड इलेक्ट्रिक केबल) में तेज धमाके के बाद उसने इमरजेंसी ब्रेक लगाए।
- जिस समय ट्रेन हादसे का शिकार हुई, उसकी स्पीड 110 किमी प्रति घंटा थी। ओएचई में धमाके से लाइन ट्रिप नहीं होती तो पूरी ट्रेन में आग लग सकती थी।
- गौरतलब है कि इंदौर से पटना जा रही ट्रेन के 14 कोच शनिवार देर रात पटरी से उतर गए। कई बोगियां पिचक गईं। कोच दूसरे कोच पर चढ़ गए। हादसे में 133 की मौत हो गई। 200 से ज्यादा जख्मी हैं

no sir LP has power to refuse. Once I was onboard Marudhar and its loco had some problem at gotan so Ju div insisted that loco can be run upto Jodhpur which is just 90km from Gotan and then repair but LP totally refsed as he said that it is highly risky.... so LP have power to refuse driving train if they feel some error.

Baat yeh hain yaha p sab higher officials ki baatein kar rahe h but what is meant by higher official? How do u categorize an official who is kower or higher? When a train is practically running on tracks it is due to collective effort(or miseffort) of so many officials but the one who is expected to take the immediate decision is the Loco Pilot & Guard upon whom so many innocent lives are depending. Loco Pilot draws a GP of 1900 & Guard draws GP of 2800 so they're one of the bottom most in the officials hierarchy. The top decision maker in this case whether a train can really move in a particular section is the Sr. Divisional Operating Manager who is perhaps drawing a GP of 9300 much above in the hierarchy,but for a section which deals hundreds of trains a day its quite impractical to...
beilive that SrDOM can personally monitor the running of each & every train, so pretty much clear the go ahead is given by the DyControllers only who're very much competent to do so but at the same hiearchy of that of a Guard. So I don't Manoj Sinha is trying to save any of his officials because here the decision maker & the inplementor both are of pretty lower grade.
& I'm also deeply saddened by a few members thought that its due to the erroneous mentality of Govt staffs... How immature is the statement..? Did Rly staffs purposefully thrown the train into such a scenario that it met the accident? Just check thr facts that what is the situation of Road Safety in India, DoRoad accidents also take place due to callousness of Govt officials? How many Govt of India vehicles are plying in the NHAI & hoew many private vehicles are there.. Its just a fact that accidents occur due to sudden human error wjich can happen any moment but also thr fact is Rail continues to be the safest mode of travel operated by Govt officials & used by thousands of conmon.

but prabhu has increased production of LHB coaches unlike his predecessors. The bullet train project doesnt affect LHB production in anyway and its not a priority for railways , at least right now. By the time bullet train project starts, if at all, all trains will be LHB. Infact its under prabhu that many normal expresses are getting LHB which was limited to premium trains earlier.

NASHIK: The Indian Railways' move to increase Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) quota in coaches has been partially welcomed by commuters saying this will help people travel comfortably at the cost of other passengers.
"It is good that RAC quota of coaches is being increased. This will help more number of passengers travel in reserved compartments - though the commuter may not be able to sleep in the sleeper coach. But, the Railways needs to decide upon the arrangement seriously and should instead make some additional arrangements," said Rajesh Fokne a member of Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC).
Railways has decided to increase the quota of RAC for every compartment from the current eight passengers on four side-berths to 18 passengers on nine side-berths.
People, who booked their tickets manually across the passenger reservation system (PRS) and would get waiting list ticket, had a chance of getting into the train and travel in the reservation compartment till they were caught by the train ticket examiner.
However, for online bookings, if the ticket did not enter the RAC zone, it automatically got cancelled and the money was transferred to the bank account of the person. This means the person is technically without ticket.
"At the last minute, one was forced to buy an ordinary ticket and hop in a general coach, undertaking gruelling journey of 12 hours. The new decision will definitely help us as we already have lesser number of trains on this route," said Ramaskrishnan Iyer, who often travels to Kerala by Mangala Express.
Kishore Nerurkar, another passenger travelling to Ratnagiri, said, "It would be better if the Railways extend the existing short distance trains or introduce new ones in the routes where there is huge demand."
A railway official, however, said there was no possibility of adding another train or rake as it is a decision taken by the Railway Board. "The routes are busy and no additional train can be added. Hence, the Railways decided to increase RAC quota. This is also a step to garner more revenue per train. More measures were likely to be introduced for this purpose in the future," he said.

You are wrong. JAT raj has dedicated rakes and is often seen in pitlines of NDLS railway station between platforms even in morning time when other rajdhanis arrive (at least till about a month ago). It might have rsa with any of the specials, but not with dbrt or any other raj. It might be some line maintainence issue or rake maintainence issue.

PTKC is now use as hault for all trains as on PTK trains take lots of time for changing LOCO position and that make delay for other trains those are standing in Que. Also, PTK has only 1 platform for long trains whereas, PTKC has 3 platforms. For military PTKC has 2 different platforms on other side.
