there is hardly any train during afternoon hours on PUNE-LNL section. That local is the only thing that was ahead of you as far as timetabled services are concerned. ocassionally though they'll let in a freight, but there is no way of saying that with surety.

साधारण यात्रियों को नव वर्ष का शानदार तोहफा दिया है। अब इस ट्रेन में जनरल की जगह सभी अति आधुनिक ‘दीनदयालु’ कोच लगाए जाएंगे। फिलहाल एक्सप्रेस में दो कोच लग रहे हैं। प्रस्ताव पर रेलवे बोर्ड ने पूवरेत्तर रेलवे को 23 जनरल दीनदयालु कोच उपलब्ध कराया है। 1गोरखधाम एक्सप्रेस में दीनदयालु कोच लग जाने से जनरल के यात्रियों को भी बेहतर सुविधाएं मिलेंगी। इस ट्रेन में पेंट्रीकार नहीं होने से जनरल के यात्रियों को भी परेशानी उठानी पड़ती है। पानी के लिए उन्हें स्टेशनों पर उतरना पड़ता है। दुर्घटना की संभावना बनी रहती है। ऐसे में दीनदयालु कोच पहुंचाएंगे। बोगियों में पीने के पानी के लिए आरओ प्लांट लगाए गए हैं। यात्रियों को बोगी में ही शुद्ध पानी मिल जाएगा। बोगी की वाह्य ही नहीं आंतरिक संरचना को भी खूबसूरत बनाया गया है।1 पंखा और लाइट की अच्छी व्यवस्था है। मोबाइल और लैपटाप के लिए चार्जर प्वाइंट बनाए गए हैं। सभी सीटें चौड़ी और गद्देदार हैं। पर्याप्त जगह होने के चलते सीटों पर 120 यात्री आराम से बैठ सकते हैं। उन्हें शयनयान श्रेणी की सुविधा मिलेगी। ऊपर वाली सीट भी गद्देदार बनाई गई है। बोगियों में बायो ट्वायलेट स्थापित हैं। खास बात यह है कि अतिरिक्त सुविधाओं के बाद भी यात्रियों को अधिक किराया नहीं देना पड़ेगा। स्टेशन प्रबंधक पीके अस्थाना के अनुसार दीनदयालु कोच गोरखपुर पहुंच गए हैं। परीक्षण चल रहा है, जल्द ही उन्हें गोरखधाम के रेक में लगा दिया जाएगा। यात्रियों को बेहतर सुविधाएं मिलेंगी। आने वाले दिनों में गोरखधाम के अलावा अन्य महत्वपूर्ण गाड़ियों में भी दीनदयालु कोच लगाए जाएंगे।

LHB would be worse, coach length restricts the number of coaches to 22, and the need for EOG (don't expect HOG so soon, only handful of trains have it in India) means that total useful coaches would go down to 20. For an already popular train that would mean only increased troubles and unnecessary overcrowding in UR compartment (reserved compartment are rarely sacrificed in LHB conversion)
Deen Dayalu is a far better option, making life slightly easier for those who suffer the worst.

if you want more evidence you can see the other PNR's of people in the same train for the same destination( /pnr ); as you can see, even WL tickets are getting cleared, so RAC will move to confirmation smoothly. The only thing is, since the ticket is in RL quota, the upward movement of ticket is quite slow, but move it will.

RL quota is always less, in 2A even less so.
But you have loads of time in hand for ticket to clear, besides there are always hidden, unused quotas which are used in confirming ticket while charting, so no issues.
anything beyond single digit WL though would be highly doubtful though.

IRI is a recreational, non-mission-critical site. FMs have many other higher priorities in their lives, and cannot be attending to site matters 24 hrs. a day. During various phases of our lives, we may be absent from the site for months due to marriage, new job, exams, etc., and during other phases when we have more free time, we may be spending more time in IRI. Accordingly, FMs will be appointed on Rotational Basis based on their interest in moderating the Forum and also their willingness and availability to do the same, vis-a-vis their real life priorities. Most of the past FMs have at this point been retired due to their unavailability.

Generally speaking, if a member is currently seen to be active in the site, i.e. logging in everyday, reading blogs, is generally not affiliated with any groups and keeps away from controversies, his/her request will be considered for being appointed FM. Mod sir and admins/monitors act as lightning rods for getting the blame of whatever ails the forum, hence i mentioned this.
And while some of them might be culpable, many aren't and it would be unpleasant to see them at the receiving end of trolls.

The "Report" button is present on all posts including my own. Yes, you can report abuse by anyone, including FMs. In fact, it has already been used against me by an Admin - albeit for testing purposes. However, the "Report" button is meant ONLY for very serious cases - usually in situations when a new member comes into the system and starts hurling abuses at everyone, posts anti-national or divisive blogs, spreads communal/religious hatred, etc. Pl. do not misuse it to report petty quarrels.

Is it this ticket?? then you need not worry, it will go through.
Boarding FC/CC on WL ticket is never a good idea as TTE;s do check tickets in this area and a heavy fine will be levied on you. That said, your ticket will get confirmed so don't think about that.

when i last traveled in it charting was done around 13:00. However since the rules have changed, charting will be done by around 12:00 (4 hours before departure) so you'll get a confirmation message by that time.
Of course if someone cancels their seat midway you'll get your seat even earlier.

MLDT WDM 3D 11501 in SR. A chance failure of Mandovi's loco soon after its departure and a very recently arrived janasadharan in Mumbai with this loco meant that MLDT's loco went with the unlikeliest trains in SR :)

NR should make this train run till VSG. Can be easily done also Vasco will get a fast connection to New Delhi and we won't have to depend on Goa express which takes around 9 hours extra.
Also its RSA partner MAO ERS extension to Vasco will fulfill the long pending demand of a dedicated train to Kerala from Vasco.
Yesterday I tweeted the same to Rail Ministry they have forwarded it now waiting for appropriate reply.

Primary maintenance at NR. SWR won't have to do anything just make arrangements for parking the rake and some cleaning works only. No Ghat constraints too also MAO to VSG is not such a busy slot, can depart VSG at 10.15 am arrive MAO at 10.55 am and then depart as usual at 11.20 am after reversing the loco.
In return arrive MAO as usual as 15.00 depart after reversing at 15.30 and arrive VSG at 16.30.

No zone in its right state of mind would lose a section of track which goes to a port and is an important point for coal import in this country. Half of the revenue from freight comes from Coal rakes, and mormugao port is one of the most important port for that (other is VSKP).
KR would gladly accept it, of course, but don't think SWR will part with their golden egg laying hen unless someone forces them to do so.

The Railways administration has put the brakes on its endeavour to purchase high-speed rakes, which can run at speed of 130kmph, as trials done were unsatisfactory .
For the record, officials said that technical defects were detected during the trials. However, they refused to elaborate on the same.
The bogies from Siemens were to be procured under the Rs 4,500 crore Mumbai Urban Transport Project-I. The total cost of purchasing 54 bogies, which would be fitted on four trains, was estimated to be Rs 60 crore.

One of the rakes with the newly designed bogies arrived in 2011, but the same could no be inducted into the suburban system, either on Western Ra ilway or Central Railway as trials remained inconclusive. At the time of signing the deal, Railways had claimed that commuters would have a more comfortable ride.
The older rakes rakes have oil-filled dampers which sometimes leak and have to be refilled each time the train goes for overhaul. The Railways said that all this would be done away with after the bolsterless bogies were introduced.
“Although the rakes have the potential to run at 130 kmph, the train would not ha ve clocked this speed ever on CR up to Kalyan and on WR beyond Mira Road because of small intervals between sta tions,“ said a WR official.
“We have to factor the speed of the train that precedes the high-speed train. How can the modified train run at a higher speed when the one ahead can clock in only 100 to 110 kmph?“ he said.

these are all tall promises that we in Mumbai here before elections. Since there are BMC election planned in Mumbai very soon you'll keep hearing such stories but nothing conclusive happens, ever.
This 130 Kmph local thing is going since i started my Junior Colg; since then i graduated and have a job, but the situation here hasn't changed.

err, no. IR is responsible, and more importantly, RM for the derailment, whether here or anywhere else.
the thing with congestion in Mumbai is that, even in off-peak hours you still have loads of trains. even after midnight, when locals stop running for few hours, you still have muck special and the other long distance train on n/w, besides freights. The issues here then arises that there are no lean period slots available to take blocks for maintenance purposes. Even though the night patrol by Gangmen (Engineering) and Linesmen (electrical) do reveal issues on track, the operating department will usually not allow a block as it affects normal running of train.

can't expect workers to work in the face of an incoming train at the speed of 60+, and the alternative i.e. block isn't really an alternative here.
This, sadly is also true for NCR and other heavily congested routes of IR, but RM and his lovely ministry, rather than filling in the vaccancies in Engg. dept will just do the usual "Dismiss the DEN/DRM" trick and go along, not withstanding the fact that in such heavy use sections, the DEN himself is probably doing 2 people's work all by himself as the requisite number of people don't exist. Add into it the clout of unions (who only protect the interest of lower level staff, no one's else) and you have a recipe for disaster, and our Hon. RM only worsens the whole thing by adding more trains to his prefered regions in India. Think of it as dumping metal azide in a container full of TNT.

gangman is supposed to turn into Into Iron man/ Super Man combo so as to work even when 1500 tonne train is approaching at 60-70 or even more speed, While DEN is supposed to have time travel powers like flash so that after working the entire day in office and spending the night on Foot Plate inspection, he can still find time to go on and check the work during night block and still be at home to receive the 06:00 AM call from office to receive summary of work done.
