Train No.02864 Yesvantpur – Howrah PREMIUM special train will leave Yesvantpur at 10.45 hrs. o­n Sundays from 05.04.2015 to 28.06.2015 and reach Howrah at 18.30 hrs. o­n Mondays.

Can someone inform when newjalpaiguri--darjeeling toy train is going to start again.it was going to restart on 25 dec.2014.but was not started on this date due to track safety trial as the landslides disrupted toy train operation in 2010.

Update February 2015: NJP to Darjeeling Toy Train Service has remained out of service since June 2010. A section of the track was badly damaged before Kurseong near Pagla Jhora due to landslides. So there has been no toy train from NJP/ Siliguri to Darjeeling since then. But now the track repair is almost complete and the service is expected to resume soon. Some trial runs have already been made.

The rake is now lying unused with no other railway zone showing any interest in using it. ER will give it one more try by changing the timings in the next time-table. If it still fails to attract passengers, the train will be scrapped.
"The train has unique features. It is wider than other trains and during trials, the outer shell scraped against the edge of the platforms. There used to be deep scratch marks on the exterior after every trial run. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) would never allow commercial runs unless this defect was rectified. Finally, a decision was taken to shorten the width of platforms along its path. Work was undertaken in nearly 20 stations and there was a lot of inconvenience to commuters. There are several utilities that run along the edges of platforms. These had to be shifted as well," a senior ER official said.
There was also trouble with the overhead equipment (OHE). The double-decker coaches are higher than conventional ones and the overhead wires were too close to the roof for comfort. It was decided to raise the height of OHE, along a single track, for the stretch between Howrah and Dhanbad.
"Trouble is that the average occupancy rate of the train remained between 15 and 20%. It gets difficult to run a train unless the minimum occupancy is about 40-45%. After suffering losses, we were forced to cancel it. We will take a final decision on whether to run the train after the new time table is released," an ER official said.

प्रभु के आते ही उथल-पुथल
वैसे तो रेलवे बोर्ड में उथल-पुथल का आलम तभी से है, जबसे प्रभु रेलमंत्री बने हैं। क्योंकि उन्होंने आते ही न केवल एक के बाद एक दनादन कई समितियों का गठन कर डाला, बल्कि उनके सुझावों पर कई महत्वपूर्ण फैसले भी ले डाले। मसलन, विवेक देबराय समिति, ई. श्रीधरन समिति, डीके मित्तल समिति।
विनोद राय को सलाहकार बनाया
इसके साथ ही उन्होंने पूर्व नियंत्रक एवं महालेखा परीक्षक विनोद राय को अपना सलाहकार नियुक्त कर लिया है जो न केवल उन्हें भ्रष्ट रेलवे अफसरों की कार्यप्रणाली की जानकारी दे रहे हैं बल्कि इससे निपटने के उपाय भी बता रहे हैं।
रही-सही कसर टाटा से पूरी
रही सही कसर उद्योगपति रतन टाटा के नेतृत्व में "कायाकल्प" परिषद के गठन ने पूरी कर दी है। अफसरों को लगता है कि यह रेलवे में निजी क्षेत्र के कायदे-कानून चलाए जाने की आधारशिला है। इससे जवाबदेही के साथ काम का बोझ बढ़ेगा। जबकि वेतन-भत्तों में कटौती हो सकती है।
मौज के दिन खत्म होने का डर
अफसर खासकर इस बात को लेकर डरे हुए हैं कि अब उनकी मौजमस्ती के दिन गिने-चुने बचे हैं। क्योंकि इस समिति को जो काम सौंपा गया है, उसमें अधिकारियों के कार्य और वेतन-भत्तों की समीक्षा के अलावा उनकी योग्यता और कौशल की जांच शामिल है।
हटेंगे दस साल से जमे अफसर
यह भी देखा जाएगा कि कौन अधिकारी कितने साल से रेलवे बोर्ड में जमा हुआ है। ऐसे अफसरों को बोर्ड से हटाकर जोनल रेलों में भेजने की तैयारी है। पहले दस साल से जमे अफसरों से शुरुआत की जाएगी। इसके बाद पांच साल पूरे कर चुके अफसरों का नंबर आएगा। दूसरी ओर जोनों और मंडलों में तैनात अनेक अफसरों को रेलवे बोर्ड में लाया जाएगा।
सही जगह पर होंगे सही लोग
कायाकल्प परिषद का मकसद रेलवे में सही जगह पर सही लोगों को बैठना है। अभी रेलवे बोर्ड में तमाम ऐसे अफसर बैठे हुए हैं जिनकी जरूरत और काबिलियत जोनों या रेलवे कारखानों के लायक है। जबकि जोनों में ऐसे कई अफसर हैं जो रेलवे बोर्ड के लिए उपयुक्त हैं। कारखानों के लिए अफसरों की अलग सर्वथा अलग श्रेणी की जरूरत है।
बाधा दूर करेंगे यूनियन के नेता
टाटा का काम प्रभु द्वारा बनाई गई तमाम समितियों की सिफारिशों की जांच करना और उनमें से सर्वाधिक उपयुक्त सुझावों को लागू करने के उपाय करना है। इसमें कोई अवरोध उत्पन्न न हो, इसके लिए ही परिषद में रेलवे की दोनों सबसे बड़ी मान्यताप्राप्त यूनियनों के पदाधिकारियों को शामिल किया गया है।

(सीआरएस) हरी झंडी दे देंगे।
शुक्रवार को डीआरएम झांसी ने भिंड से लेकर इटावा तक रेलवे ट्रैक का निरीक्षण किया और दो-तीन दिन में मालगाड़ी चलाने की बात कही। तीन दशक पूर्व वर्ष 1984 में तत्कालीन रेल मंत्री माधव राव सिधिंया ने इटावा-गुना रेल लाइन की आधारशिला रखी थी।
वर्षों पहले मध्य प्रदेश के भिंड जिले तक ट्रेन संचालन शुरू हो गया। करीब 37 किलोमीटर में भिंड से इटावा तक ट्रेन संचालन आज तक शुरू नहीं हो पाया। इटावा से भिंड के बीच निर्माण कार्य पूरा हो चुका है। शुक्रवार को डीआरएम झांसी अशोक कुमार अग्रवाल ने अफसरों की टीम के साथ स्पेशल ट्रेन से भिंड से लेकर इटावा तक रेलवे लाइन का निरीक्षण किया।
इस दौरान उन्होंने चंबल पुल और यमुना पुल के साथ उदी रेलवे स्टेशन का निरीक्षण किया। उन्होंने चंबल पुल के क्षतिग्रस्त पिलर पी-6 को भी चेक किया। उदी रेलवे स्टेशन पर उन्होंने संचालन की पूरी जानकारी साथ चल रहे अफसरों से ली।
दोपहर करीब तीन बजे निरीक्षण करते हुए डीआरएम स्पेशल ट्रेन से इटावा तक पहुंचे। करीब आधा घंटा रुकने के बाद वह स्पेशल ट्रेन से भिंड होते हुए झांसी के लिए रवाना हो गए। पत्रकारों से बातचीत करते हुए उन्होंने कहाकि दो-तीन दिन में इस रूट पर मालगाड़ी का संचालन शुरू करा दिया जाएगा।
उन्होंन कहा कि अभी इस रूट पर इटावा-भिंड के बीच उदी स्टेशन के साथ गेटों पर स्टाफ की तैनाती नहीं हो पाई है। स्टाफ होता तो संचालन आज से ही शुरू कर देते। भिंड सहित अन्य स्टेशनों से स्टाफ की व्यवस्था कराकर दो-तीन दिन में मालगाड़ियों का संचालन शुरू कर दिया जाएगा।
एक सवाल के जवाब में उन्होंने कहा कि पैसेंजर ट्रेन का संचालन शुरू कराना उनके कार्य क्षेत्र में नहीं है। पैसेंजन ट्रेन का संचालन सीआरएस द्वारा हरी झंडी दिए जाने पर ही शुरू हो सकेगा। पैसेंजर ट्रेन का संचालन कब से शुरू हो सकता है। इस पर भी वह कोई स्पष्ट जवाब नहीं दे सके। निरीक्षण के वक्त उनके साथ वरिष्ठ मंडल परिचालन प्रबंधक अनुराग पटेरिया सहित झांसी मंडल के अधिकारी व निर्माण कार्य से जुड़े सभी अधिकारी उपस्थित रहे।

As per the plan, wait listed passengers will get a confirmed berth on the duplicate train without any changes to the PNR number on the ticket. They will get an SMS from the railways that contains the confirmation details and the arrival time of the train. They can travel with the same ticket.
The scheme, introduced in the 2014 railway budget, was never implemented despite several rounds of discussion on it. The railways brushed up the idea of running additional trains as it did not declare any trains in the latest budget.
The railways is already running a special train from Thiruvananthapuram to Guwahati in almost the same model. As the number of passengers far exceeded the capacity of the train that starts from Thiruvananthapuram at 12:40 in the afternoon on Sunday, a special service that runs half an hour earlier, was started on the same route. This has become a huge success.
With a lot of unreserved passengers boarding the first train, the original train has become less crowded, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager V.C. Sudheesh said.
Even though there is a general complaint that special trains are delayed, the clone trains will run on time.
Apart from the Kerala Express, the Karnataka Express between Bengaluru and New Delhi and the Poorva Express between Howrah and New Delhi are a few of the trains that may get a clone to lessen their burden.

भारतात कार्यक्षमरीत्या प्रशासन करता यावे या हेतूने रेल्वे सुरू करण्याचा निर्णय ब्रिटिश सरकारने १४ नोव्हेंबर १८४९ रोजी घेतला. जेम्स जॉन बर्कले या अवघ्या ३० वर्षाच्या ब्रि​टिश इंजिनीअरवर रेल्वे प्रत्यक्षात साकारण्याची जबाबदारी सोपविण्यात आली. बर्कले नवीन जबाबदारी स्वीकारण्यासाठी ७ फेब्रुवारी १८५० रोजी भारतात आले. कोणत्या गेजचा रेल्वेमार्ग बांधायचा... ब्रिटन प्रमाणे चार फुटी की इतरत्र असलेल्या सात फूट एक इंची रुंदीचा... या वादातून भूसंपादन, भूस्तर इत्यादींचा विचार करून मुंबई-ठाणे मार्गासाठी साडेपाच फूट रुंदीचा पर्याय त्यावेळचे गर्व्हनर लॉर्ड डलहौसी यांनी स्वीकारला.
रेल्वेमार्गाचे भूमिपूजन ऑक्टोबर १८५१मध्ये करण्यात आले. फॅव्हिल अँड फॉवलर या ब्रिटिश कंपनीस कंत्राट देण्यात आले. हा मार्ग पूर्ण होत असतानाच इंग्लंडहून आणलेल्या वाफेच्या पहिल्या इंजिनची चाचणी १८ नोव्हेंबर १८५२ रोजी घेण्यात आली आणि १६ एप्रिल १८५३ रोजी पहिली गाडी मुंबई ते ठाणे मार्गावर धावण्यासाठी सज्ज झाली. या पहिल्या ऐतिहासिक रेल्वे प्रवासाचे वर्णनही पुस्तकात आहे. त्यावेळचे गव्हर्नर फॉकलंडसमवेत त्यांची पत्नी व त्यांच्या सोबत ४०० निमंत्रित या गाडीत होते. या १४ डब्यांच्या गाडीला तीन इंजिने जोडण्यात आली होती. या इंजिनांची नावे होती सिंध, सुलतान आणि साहिब. मुंबईहून दुपारी ३.३५च्या मुहूर्तावर पहिली गाडी सुटली, त्यावेळी २१ तोफांची सलामी देण्यात आली. गाडीने मुंबई सोडले आणि पहिला स्टॉप सायनला इंजिनमध्ये पाणी भरण्यासाठी घेतला. ५७ मिनिटांत हा मुंबई-ठाणे ३४ कि.मी.चा प्रवास गाडीने पूर्ण केला.
अशाप्रकारे आशियातील पहिली रेल्वेगाडी सुरू झाली. या रेल्वेप्रवासाबद्दल सर्वसामान्य जनतेत फार मोठी उत्सुकता होती. रेल्वे मार्गाचा 'लोखंडी मार्ग' म्हणून उल्लेख ते करीत असत. सर्वसामान्यांमध्ये अनेक अफवाही पसरलेल्या होत्या. रेल्वेने प्रवास केला तर आयुष्य कमी होते, कारण रेल्वेगाडी जलद धावते. एका ठिकाणाहून दुसऱ्या ठिकाणी झटपट पोचता येत असल्याने त्याचा परिणाम आपले आयुष्य व वय कमी होण्यावर होतो. इंजिनला शक्ती मिळण्यासाठी स्लीपर्सखाली लहान मुलांना आणि तरुण जोडप्यांना पुरण्यात आलेले आहे... वगैरे वगैरे..
सीएसटीचे सविस्तर वर्णन या पुस्तकात आहे, शिवाय या मार्गावर प्रत्येक स्टेशन कसे उभारण्यात आले व त्यांपैकी काही स्टेशनांचे नामांतर करण्यासाठी महिकावतीच्या बखरीचाही वापर कसा करण्यात आला, यासंबंधी माहितीही त्यांनी दिलेली आहे. रेल्वे प्रवाशांनी संग्रही ठेवण्यासारखे हे पुस्तक आहे.

I meet her on a Saturday, at her home, a couple of hours before she was to start work — the 6 pm to midnight shift.
She is dressed in a crisp white formal half sleeved shirt and white trousers.
She gives her two daughters Sanika and Mudra — studying in classes six and four — a string of instructions: “Finish your homework. Do not fight with each other. Do not step out of the house when you are alone. Call me or Papa if you need anything.”
She is 44 years old now and is deputy station manager at Thane, Mumbai. She has been in service for over 22 years.
Her husband Vivek works for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
In an interview, she talks about the challenges she faced and how she overcame them all to set an example for others.
Joining the Railways
My father was employed by the Central Government and it was my dream to serve the government.
We lived in Bhandup (Mumbai) and every time I spotted a station master in uniform, I was curious to know more. I knew that a station master commanded respect.
After a BSc in Chemistry from Jhunjhunwala College in Ghatkopar, I was studying for a diploma in Medical Laboratory from K J Somaiya College in Vidyavihar when I saw the advertisement for recruitment of women in the Railways.
My parents encouraged me to apply for the position of assistant station master. I cleared the written test and got the offer letter.
This was in 1991 and I was 21 years old.
I had no idea then that I would become the first woman to occupy that post.
Some seven or eight women gave the written test but I was the only one who managed to crack it.
During the training, I was the only female in a batch of 60.
On May 19, 1992, I joined the Mumbai division of Indian Railways as the first assistant station master. I was posted in Kurla.
A lot of people told me that I was the first female station master in India. I filed an RTI in October 2012 to confirm the fact.
I got a reply in November 2012 stating that I was the first female station master in Mumbai division, but there was no clarity on who’s the first in India.
The letter stated that the Railway Board will give me the details. I haven’t heard from them yet.
The challenges
On my first day in office, many people peeped into my office to get a look at me.
Some days later, one of them told me that they had never seen a woman station master.
Some of my colleagues told me that a station master’s job wasn’t meant for women. They told me of the long and odd working hours and the stress in order to discourage me.
Instead of appreciating the fact that a woman was working so hard, I was disappointed to find that I could not expect much encouragement from my colleagues.
In the six years I worked there I faced a lot of problems — from non co-operating colleagues to ego issues that came in the way of my work.
Even when I was pregnant with my first child I did rotating shifts at the CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus) office, climbing five floors more than once a day.
I worked throughout the nine months of my pregnancy, without complaining, because I believe in commitment to work.
I travelled late hours during the Mumbai riots, stayed back at work during the terrorist attack in 2008 and visited accident sites and courts during both my pregnancies.
Some of my male colleagues would wonder what stuff I was made of.
During the deluge in 2005, all the men were sent away.
I was the only woman on duty and I worked for more than 24 hours, attending calls, manning the station, delegating work and monitoring the activity on the railway tracks.
I have lost count of the festivals and social gatherings I have missed in the 22 years I have been working.
I am not the only woman who has made many sacrifices to focus on her career. I believe it’s a small price to pay when you are set to make a mark.
Work-life balance
For a working woman in India who is married and has kids, there is no perfect work life balance. But one can always prioritise and make optimum use of available time.
I am lucky my husband volunteers to take care of the kids whenever he is home.
My mother-in-law also helps me manage the house. Without their help I would have been forced to quit a long time ago.
Given my odd working hours, I am extremely organised and plan things well in advance to avoid any inconvenience to my family.
People are surprised when I tell them I don’t have any maids or servants to help me.
If I am doing a night shift, I sleep for about four hours and finish my household stuff in the morning hours.
I cook the food, help the kids with their homework and even take them out shopping on my weekly offs.
My kids have become independent. They used to get upset initially, but now they are very accommodating and understand my limitations.
During Diwali, if I have a late evening shift, I do Laxmi Pooja in the morning. I prepare the sweets in advance so that my family doesn’t miss out on the celebrations.
The perks
Not many people are aware of the responsibilities of a station master.
We have a lot of power. My presence of mind and quick delegation has averted several accidents and derailments.
These things never get reported in newspapers. Only accidents and mishaps are reported.
Those few who know me and my work are proud of my achievements. When others tried to discourage me, my family and friends kept me going.
Lessons learned
I have learnt that circumstances may not always be favourable.
You have to be strong enough to rise above the challenges and motivate yourself to see the positives around you.
When I was stressed and frustrated, my husband would tell me to look at the bright side of things.
“So many people are working under you. You have so much power that others do not have. You’re so lucky and privileged,” he would tell me
That would motivate me to ignore the negatives around me.
Advice
I understand that women tend to be insecure. That’s natural.
But we must understand that a lot of people — both men and women — will use this as a tool to prevent talented women from rising up the ladder.
As far as possible, we women must avoid showing our weaknesses to the world.
We should stand up for each other and fight discrimination, and take on the challenges to gain success.
Women should encourage and help each other to chase success rather than be stumbling blocks.
