******* The Only Diesel Locomotive Of IR which can be used for both Passenger and Freight Trains*******
Brief Description about the WDM Class Locomotive:
The class WDM-3A is Indian Railways' workhorse diesel locomotive. Since 1994, it has been manufactured in India by the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi. The model name stands for broad gauge (W), diesel (D), mixed traffic (M) engine. The WDM-3A is the most common diesel locomotive of Indian Railways. The WDM-3A is a variant of the original WDM-2C. These units have been retro-fitted with dual brakes, in addition to

the air and vacuum brakes. The WDM 2 locos have a maximum speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). The gear ratio is 65:18.
The loco is now widely used across India for long distance passenger trains due to its ruggedness and high tractive loads and acceleration.
The term "Mixed Traffic" means you can use this Locomotive for both Passenger and freight trains.
For more details about Technical Specifications of WDM 3A interested viewers are requested to view:

Mention must be made here that the "New Variant" of WDM 3A is WDM 3D which is also as powerful as WDM 3A and WDM 3D is "Microprocessor Fitted Loco" which is absent in "WDM 3A" class locos.

As a current traveller on the shatabdi...blasting its way towards Solapur I feel that a lhb with better service is much needed. With the increase in fare it becomes a natural expectation for the traveler. Looking back on the train history I feel it has come a long way from being always late to ill quality food and as it has always been an old rake. It's a shame that food is still arranged near the entrance sink or toilets. Comparing it to other shatabdis I strongly feel it should get a new rake. The occupancy is good as well and it runs full on weekends.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
