"Dear Customer,
Congratulations! Thank you for using IRCTC's online rail reservation facility. Your e-ticket has been booked and the details are indicated below.
Please take a printout of the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS)/a screenshot of ERS i.e. Virtual Reservation Message(VRM) OF YOUR TICKET FROM YOUR Booked Tickets History page .You have to carry this printout/VRM along with any one from the listed identity cards (Voter Identity Card / Passport / PAN Card / Driving License / Photo ID card issued by Central / State Govt / Student Identity Card with photograph issued by
recognized School or College for their students / Nationalised Bank Passbook with photograph / Credit Cards issued by Banks with laminated photograph) during train journey in original. Both these will be examined by ticket checking staff on stations/trains for verification purpose."
is it ok to show the screenshot of ERS instead of the printout as mentioned in the above excerpt from irctc email but the irctc call center reps are insisting on taking a printout and they dont know about the screenshot version when asking for clarity on this they connect me to senior ex. but no one picks up the call
I have bymistake entered the wrong mobile number so cant use that option.
can someone help me on this issue??

Hey you don't need to worry, just take the pdf file of the tcket. It is more than sufficient.
If ypu don't have phone which supports pdf file, then you definitely need to take a printout.

A report in Reuters said that the visit this week of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is likely to result in an announcement about a bullet train.
Japan will offer $8.11 billion loan towards the completion of a bullet train project. The project will cost Rs 98,000 crore and the train will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Construction is expected to start in 2017 and end six years later.
If the report is accurate, it doesn’t sound good for Indian railways.
infrastructure in India is creaky on account of inadequate resources. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu made a good start to his tenure by vowing to channel investment into areas which would have a greater impact on the economy. Consequently, resources will not be diverted to creating new passenger lines which aim to please a specific constituency.
This made sense as the need of the hour was focused investment in railway infrastructure.
A decade ago railway’s finances began to improve on the heels of an economic upswing. However, the confluence of a higher outgo on account of enhanced salaries and pensions following the recommendations of the sixth pay commission and an economic slowdown led to a deterioration in the organization’s financial position.
Salaries and pension in tandem result in the single largest expenditure item for the organization. The extent of railway earnings they will pre-empt is set to rise as the seventh pay commission has recommended an enhancement in salaries.
Given the precarious nature of railway finances and the urgency with which it has to enhance its infrastructure, the last thing needed is a showpiece project such as a bullet train. A bullet train will not increase the speed with which India’s freight trains move- their movement must be one of the slowest in the world. India’s manufacturers are not going to more competitive if freight continues to move at a snail’s pace.
There is nothing intrinsically wrong with a bullet train. But given the priorities outlined in Prabhu’s railway budget, there is no case to borrow money to build a showpiece project at this moment in time.
Abandon this idea, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jul 31 2014 (23:02)   25 Crore Double-Decker Train in Mumbai Already Damaged

rdb*^   129327 news posts
Entry# 1175371   News Entry# 187683         Tags   Past Edits
At a time when plans for a bullet train are afoot and passengers are demanding better trains with superior facilities, an air-conditioned double-decker train, procured recently for nearly Rs. 25 crore, has been languishing on a siding near Mulund station. Meant to operate on the Mumbai-Goa route, the train has become a playground for miscreants.
It has been damaged to such an extent that the toughened glass windows are cracked, apparently as a result of stones being thrown at them. Some of the windows have been plastered with tape and blue foil has been pasted on parts of the bright yellow coaches, probably to hide damage. Most of the damage has been done to the lower portions of the coaches.
10-coach AC double-decker train has been standing on one of the siding tracks between Mulund and Nahur stations, very close to the tracks on which local trains ply. The track is covered with shrubs and people walk along it even as buildings are being constructed next to the rail lines.
Normally, railway police staffers patrol these sidings and yards, catching hold of unscrupulous elements. "It is possible that the stones were thrown while the train's trial runs were underway on the Roha-Ratnagiri stretch. It is unlikely that such an incident happened since the time that it has been parked there (near Mulund). We will still look into the matter," said a senior Railway Police Officer.
The cost of each double-decker coach is around Rs. 2.5 crore, bringing the total cost of the 10 coaches to Rs. 25 crore. "It is sad that miscreants treat the train so badly and damage it," said Mukesh Nigam, divisional railway manager (Mumbai), Central Railway, when mid-day showed him photographs of the damaged train.
The train is slated to be run on the Mumbai-Goa route, which is a money-spinner. In May-June, officials from Research Design Standards Organisation (RDSO), Central Railway and Konkan Railway jointly conducted trial runs for the train.
According to officials, the trial runs were held between Roha and Madgaon, and Madgaon and Ratnagiri in two phases. The officials claimed that the section between Roha and Madgaon has 68 tunnels and the train managed to navigate the stretch satisfactorily. A report is being prepared by the RDSO and it will be submitted to the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Central Circle.
Enhanced capacity
The AC double-decker train has a carrying capacity of 120 passengers per coach against 60-70 in a normal coach. Despite there being at least 27 trains on the Mumbai-Goa route, a large number of buses, carrying 45-50 passengers each, also ply on it. Railway officials said the 10-coach AC double-decker should be be able to carry at least 1,200 passengers.

Me & my friend has decided to watch Transformers – Age of Extinction 3D in IMAX 3D.
In our country there were only 2 cities in which IMAX screening forcasts i.e. Mumbai & Bengaluru.
Features of IMAX
picture quality.
*impressive sound.
*earth shattering experience.
*superior 3D.
*real feel on every corner/on every seat.
That’s why it’s tag line…IMAX-is believing.
As a railfan asking for help to my fellow mates.
Want to go Mumbai from Kanpur, as I know tickets is not available in any train.
So tatkal is an only option.
Trains selected
1. 11106 Gorakhpur – Lokmanya Tilak T ( Kushinagar Exp).
2. 12174 Pratapgarh – Lokmanya Tilak T (Udyognagri Exp).
3. 12541 Gorakhpur – Lokmanya Tilak T (Sant Kabir Dham Exp).
Plz guide me how do I reach Big Cinemas IMAX – Wadala, Mumbai or PVR Phoenix IMAX – Bapat Marg, Mumbai & about the possibility to get confirm seats by Tatkal.
Which screen is nearer to LTT & how do I reach.
*my plan is to reach & return on same day & yeah the same trains in return.
So, is it possible to get confirm Tatkal tickets from Mumbai to Kanpur.
At what time do i reach prs counter, which one is nearer & most importantly confirmation of seats.
Transformers – Age of Extension in earth shattering IMAX 3D
*no hurting intentions, just an info regarding avaliability, possibility, easybility.
Thanks !!!
