Jul 09 2016 (17:45)   Talgo train clocks 120 kmph during Mathura-Palwal trial

New Delhi, Jul 9 (PTI) Spanish train Talgo today commenced its second phase trial from Mathura at 120 km per hour speed with senior officials from Spain and Railways onboard. The train with nine coaches started the journey at 12.40 PM from Mathura and reached Palwal at 1.33 PM covering the 84 km distance in about 53 minutes, said a senior railway official who is part of the testing team.
The trial between Mathura and Palwal will go on for 25 days and the speed will go up to 180 kmph this time, he said. Asked about the trial results, he said "prima facie it seems to be okay. But it will be known only after the examination of the various datas

being recorded during the trial journey." Earlier, the speed was ranging between 80-115 km per hour during the first trial between Bareilly and Moradabad stations last month. Hauled by a 4,500 HP diesel engine, Talgo coaches are lightweight and designed in a way that it can run on curves without decelerating the speed. A team of Spanish officials along with railways officials and experts from Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) were present onboard during the trial. The train consists of two Executive Class cars, four Chair Cars, a cafeteria, a power car and a tail-end coach for staff and equipment. Shipped from Barcelona, the Talgo aluminium coaches anchored at Mumbai port on April 21. Besides speed, testing team will also take note of vibration, safety and stability of lightweight coaches during the trial and these technical parameters were vital for high speed run. There will also be a final trial between Mumbai-Delhi route before finalising the report. After the successful launch of semi-high speed (160 kmph) Gatimaan Express on the Delhi-Agra route in April, Talgo trial is being conducted as part of railways strategy to increase the speed of trains. According to the plan, Talgo train is expected to press into service on Delhi-Mumbai sector.
Currently, Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani Express runs at an average speed of 85 km per hour while the Talgo train can maintain an average speed of 125 km per hour. Talgo envisages the journey between Delhi and Mumbai can be completed in about 12 hours as compared to 17 hours at present.
Besides reducing travel time, Talgos lighter trains consume 30 per cent less energy.
The Railways has set up a Mobility Directorate to work on strategies to increase speed of trains

I am planning to travel from mumbai to goa on 14th July by 12133. I have heard that the union govt. employees strike will affect train services. So will my journey also be affected? Please do reply as I don't know if it's a rumour or truth and should I travel by other medium?

Hello Friends,
I recently travelled by 12954 from NZM to BCT and here are some of my raw, unorganized yet unbiased observations / opinions about the train. Being a Railfan and moreover RajjoFan, I have tried to be as organic in penning down my thoughts. Hope you like it. :D
- My tickets were RAC 54 on the day of the journey at 1pm but due to an augmentation of additional coach BE-1, we got confirmed berths so kudos to IR for the same.
-
...
The rake of the train dated of 2003 and the train was hauled by GZB (HOG fitted) WAP-7.
- The train so-called Deputy King of WR truly justifies its tag in terms of speed, pick up and acceleration at notable stations. The train constantly cruised through at the speed of 130-135 from Nizamuddin to Kota.
- Jerks experienced in the coaches were far worse than 12951 (when I was travelling from Mumbai to Delhi), probably because we were placed second last from the Loco (amplification of jerk due to the distance from loco). IR seriously needs to solve this issue of CBC coupling in LHB coaches since many passengers including me could not sleep the entire night due to the innumerable jerks till the last second.
- Just as we crossed Palwal, a loud sound was heard. It was the impact of huge stone pelted onto the opposite window of the aisle side lower berth next to me when the train was in motion. Luckily due to the thickness of window glass, it saved my fellow passengers, but all it shows is the hooliganism and trespassing on nation's to be fastest semi-high speed corridor.
- The food was totally below average. I see a stark difference between the IRCTC Noida Kitchen v/s IRCTC Mumbai Central kitchen while the latter one being far better in terms of food taste and quality (especially dinner).
- It was running around 25minutes BT while nearing Mathura, was halted for more than 10 minutes at outer and still arrived 10 minutes BT at Mathura. Something similar happened between Gurla and Kota stations, however this time it puffed into the station around 10 minutes late.
- Rail Bandhu, the most coveted MONTHLY Rail magazine was not offered anywhere on my last four trips (all were Rajdhani 12951-12952-22913-12954) with an excuse of not being published, I was travelling on the 20th of March (Half the month was over -_-).
- Post Vaitarna, the train literally crawled through the entire suburban section of Mumbai and we reached Mumbai with a delay of around 13 minutes. I understand its Mumbai and its Peak Hours! :P
- A controversial but logical thought - Does AKRaj needs 12 halts? I completely sympathize with the feelings of passengers boarding from en route stations but does it make sense to give halts like Vapi and Valsad both? Nagda and Ratlam both? Borivali and Andheri both? Either one could suffice for the other. There are various factors which decide the course of stoppages and TT of trains but have a glance at these excerpts from the IRI member post -
/faq/post/1930
and decide isn't AK RAJ holding too many stops in its kitty.
Overall, my experience in August Kranti Rajdhani was above average.
This is my first trip bureau so your suggestions, comments and opinions on the same are very valuable.
Thanks a lot for reading my post. :)

CK mein 80 seats ka quota h aur PT mein bhi 80 seats ka quota h!!
yeh logon ki first choices mein se ek h!! sharp 10 pr bhi seats full ho jaye... but agar PT vacant reh jata h toh CKWL bhi clear ho jata h!!
waise
...
GNWL bhi RAC mein land kar sakta h!!
Can also try for Tatkal as well.. nd if money doesn't matters then aap khud hi PT le lijiyega!!

New Delhi: A maximum of 6 tickets can be booked online by an individual user in a month on IRCTC website.
Indian Railways has now introduced new checks on booking of e-ticket/i-ticket through IRCTC website with a view to further prevent possible misuse.
The new provision will come into effect from 15th February, 2016. This will replace the existing system under which a maximum of 10 tickets can be booked online through IRCTC website in a month by an individual.
However,
...
the existing condition will continue wherein these booking will be subject to a limit of booking 2 opening Tatkal tickets in 10:00- 12:00 hours period in a day and 2 opening Advance Reservation Period (ARP) tickets in 08:00-10:00 hours period in a day.
This has been done keeping in view the analysis of usage of quota of 10 tickets which indicated that 90 percent of users are booking up to 6 tickets in a given month and only 10 percent are making more than 6 tickets.
It is suspected that the 10 percent users might be involved in touting activities. Therefore to deter such touts and to facilitate genuine users, it has been decided that a maximum of 6 tickets can be booked by an individual user in a month.
In order to facilitate genuine users and prevent touting activities, various checks have already been put in place for the booking of e-ticket/i-ticket on IRCTC website.

Can Mumbai - Jodhpur get a dedicated AC Express (Duronto/GR/Mahamana)? I have frequently travelled on this clogged route, I feel there is a good scope to run a more faster connection than Suryanagari and DDR-BKN EXP between the two via Samdhari-Bhildi route.
Even DDR-BKN gets very good patronage but its frequency has'nt been increased either.
