As per CC info & from PNRs can see D10 is 17 coach from engine and its at rear end while going towards Pune...

I have not been on the konkan railway for qiute some time. I think only Panvel to Apta is doubled . Whts the further status.
Is the nagothane curve still or new allignment is going to be constructed.

KYN WCAM2P # 21871 going towards PF1 of Pune Station on Sunday, 09-Aug-2015, at morning 07:05 hrs, to take charge of outgoing 12124 Pune-Mumbai DQ (Deccan Queen) Exp! At that time, a goods train (BCNA Rake) headed by BHEL built tiger faced WAP4 shell type BL WAG7 # 24690 came from Lonavala direction went towards GIT Ghorpadi Yard Area. Also, today's 11024 KOP-CSTM Sahyadri Exp was hauled by KYN WCAM2P # 21879 from Pune to Mumbai.

KYN WCAM 2 are in a filty condition than WCAM 3 . Undergone with lots painting and modifications .
Also does any body have a pic or video of DQ going towards Pune With WCAM 2 in the Evening time.

Sirji i agree with you CR should use WCAM-3 locos as a bankers duty in kasara -igatpuri ghat section on North East lines.

1. has any body spotted DQ with WCAM 2 in bothe the directions.
2. Yes .. WCAM 3 should be used as bankers or CR should convert WCAM 2/3 into pure AC locos, but that look rare possibility as Bombay Port Trust line from wadala to kurla is DC currnet.
3. What Did you mean by good condition?? I think all WCAM 2 are of good condition. It is the only AC/DC loco to haul prestigious trains of both CR and WRlys. (Rajdhani and DQ)

WCAM2/2P/3 in "good" condition at Pune means that loco available in the morning (1 to 1.5 hrs before scheduled departure of DQ) has not been reported with any technical / electrical / mechanical issue, the loco has undergone scheduled maintenance, cleaning, etc on earlier night and BPC (Brake Power Certificate) is available / can be issued for that loco.

They may be used as bankers. Another thing is they are being used on NE trains right upto ET. Apart LTT ALD Duranto, now Kamayani, LTT BSB (12167), Pavan Exp. group and Kashi Exp. work with WCAM3. The possibility of conversion to bankers can't be ruled out, but no such info as of now

Yes. It is working with WCAM2 in both directions. The loco link is likewise - The loco that brings in DQ takes it back. This existed when WCAM3 was the power.
I will try to figure out the reason though. Its not about condition only. Something from Bombay Divn too

WCAM 2/3 are relatively new by railways standard, and are going strong. So there shouldn't be any need to scrap them
WCAM 1 were 40 years old, hence they had to be scrapped after conversion.
The amount of links that WCAM 2/3 operate means that at least upto few years from now its unfeasible to scrap them.

Is the seat position indicated wid WS if its a chair car. If yes.. its window seat. Other wise no. If its sleeper... it must be indicated as SL or LB

I usually travel by DQ but this time planned to return to Pune by Pragati. Travelled in this after almost 3-4 years. Drastically downgraded from what it was earlier and what it is today.
First it reached Dadar late when the earlier EMU had actually left 7 mins ago. Train did not stopped as per the indicators on platform. It halted more than 1 coach behind. So as expected a lot of chaos on platform. People in groups running in panic situation, half of them boarding in whichever coachs possible. Inside;
reaserved seats occupied by pass holders. Train moved and some passengers deboarded at Thane too....that means some of them were Mumbai local pass holders. At thane same situation. Halted hardly for 1 minute and left. Crossed parsik tunnel and halted for crossing the main line trains in opposite direction. Crossed Diva Station thru extreme right side track. Diva to Panvel journey was sometimes extremely fast speed and sometimes extremely slow. I doubt the maintenance of that section tracks as the train was oscillating shaking and every possible wild movements were taking place. Reached panvel 20 mins late. Then so many passengers boarded that the coach was jam packed. A reserved compartment with more unreserved ticket holders. And the surprising part was the TTE was moving around checking tickets of only seated passengers.
Panvel karjat was similar. Had to overtake some good trains on the way but I don't know why it had to slow down while overtaking.
reached karjat late 25 mins. I thought DQ gonna overtake us but it did not. After karjat the train ran like a mad dog and reached shivaji nagar 10 mins late where I deboarded.
Train was full with vendors selling all possible items that they could in a train. Many beggers also passed thru the gangway.
Why is this a super fast train ? Why pay super fast charge? Better travel in sinhagad or deccan express.

This train regularly late to reach pune . I do not understand the reason ???? Towards CST the train is always right time despite coming from the same route. I really feel this train is lost its glory.

MUMBAI: The Western Railway (WR) has prepared a Rs 1,100 crore plan to reduce travel time between the city and Ahmedabad, the busiest Indian Railways corridor, by at least two hours. The WR has plans to increase the speed of some trains on the corridor to 160 kmph.For this, the WR will have to undertake improvement of tracks, barricading of vulnerable locations and regulating the over head equipment (OHE), among other things."We have submitted initial estimates for the speed improvement project to the railway board for approval," WR chief public relations Sharat Chandrayan said.If the initial estimates are approved, a detailed estimate will be prepared and tenders invited."The entire exercise can be completed in a year," a senior official said. "We can complete the infrastructure improvement work on the 493 km corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in five to six months after the contractors are appointed."On a regular train, it takes...
between seven and to eight hours to cover the distance between the city and Ahmedabad and two hours is a substantial saving in time if it happens.
The railway board has selected nine corridors to run trains at the "semi-high speed" of 160 kmph. The Mumbai-Goa and Mumbai-Ahmedabad routes are among these.
"In the first phase, only the trains that run with LHB type fully air-conditioned coaches like Shatabdi, Duranto and Rajdhani will be able to attain the speed of 160 kmph," a railway official said. "The increase in speed in other trains will be done in the second phase."
The WR has already carried out successful trials to run the trains on the corridor at 130 kmph.
"We are awaiting clearance from commissioner of railway safety, after which some trains can run at this speed and help reduce travel time by 30 minutes," Chandrayan said.
India's first bullet train is also expected to run between the city and Ahmedabad. For this project, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is expected to submit its final feasibility study report by May 2015.
An interim study ruled out bullet trains on the existing system because the line is saturated and the infrastructure incapable of handling high-speed trains.
The study said the bullet train fare would be 1.5 times the first AC fare. This will allow the high-speed system to generate Rs 80 million per day. As many as 40,000 passengers will be able to use the bullet train by 2023.

The railways have surely done some research on the congestion problem. The DFCC is moving at brisk space and many bridges have been contructed . Once the freight traffic is moved to this line , the existing one will be more free for high speed. Hope the DFCC project gets over by 2017. In fact this whole route will be a high speed zone . Even freight trains will run at 100kmph and will be python freight trains , the ones currently running in US or other countries.

Rarely a freight in world is allowed to go above 110 km/h, specially a fully loaded freight, unless being hauled by a powerful loco in the lead.
DFC's are fast movement, so that the regular trunk lines are cleared for the pass service.
