Infrastructure boost! Indian Railways set to get modern ‘Make in India’ locomotives.
Indian Railways is all set to get a new set of diesel locomotives that will replace an ageing fleet of engines. One such set of locomotives is being made by GE Transportation under the Modi government's 'Make in India' initiative. Most of these locomotives will be manufactured at GE factory in Bihar. GE recently unveiled the first of the 1000 Evolution Series diesel locomotives that will be supplied to the Indian Railways.
We take a look at some interesting facts
about the locomotives that will help in enhancing traffic movement on the Railway network.
According to GE, the 1,000 locomotives will be delivered to Indian Railways over the next 10 years at the rate of 100 locomotives a year. Initially, 40 of the twin-cab 1,676 mm gauge locomotives will be exported from the US.
GE Transportation will supply 700 locomotives of 4,500 HP and 300 of 6,000 HP. The project is part of a $2.6 billion contract that the Ministry of Railways had awarded in November 2015. The locomotives will start arriving in India at the end of this year GE has subjected them to rigorous testing.
Meanwhile, GE is building its locomotive factory in Marhowra, Bihar. This factory will be used to manufacture the rest of the locomotives from the third quarter of 2018.
GE claims that the new set of locomotives will "significantly modernise India's rail infrastructure". GE is also building maintenance sheds at Roza in UP and Gandhidham in Gujarat.
The 4,500 HP locomotive will have dual cabs. On the other hand, the 6,000 HP locomotive will be equipped with a single cab. The locomotives will have amenities such as air-conditioning. The locomotives will be able to attain a maximum speed of 100 km/hr.

Pls help with this PNR members / admin, actually one of my friend who was returning from Gorakhpur to Mumbai, as he was supposed to board the train from LUCKNOW yesterday where an unfortunately to his way to LUCKNOW via road his bus met with an accident near RAUJA GAON. In this mess the luggage back got exchanged in which he found this ticket. I'am mentioning the PNR details for all your reference

Tejas Express leaves Goa 3 hours late, still reaches Mumbai a minute early.
Commuters at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus were pleasantly surprised to see the Tejas Express arrive a minute ahead of schedule on Sunday, considering that it had left Karmali station in Goa after a three-hour delay.
The luxury train, capable of running at a maximum speed of 200 kmph, train left Goa at 10.30am and travelled 750km to reach Mumbai at 7.44pm. It usually leaves Goa at 7.30am and arrives at 7.45pm.
was the train’s first journey under the new monsoon timetable, put in place as a safety measure against the rough terrain. The premium train will run thrice a week from Mumbai and will return from Goa the next day. During the monsoon, the train is expected to take 12 or 15 hours to reach its destination, as against the usual eight-and-a-half hours.
An empty coach from Mumbai arrived late, delaying the train’s departure, said LK Verma, chief spokesperson of Konkan Railway. “The changed timetable led to the delay. This train is always on time otherwise,” he added.
The train was reached Kudal two hours and 17 minutes late. It reached Ratnagiri and hour late. Panvel commuters said the train arrived 14 minutes late.
The train has powerful electro-numatic breaking systems. To make up for lost time, it travelled at 153 kmph between Karmali and Kudal, at 137 kmph between Kudal and Ratnagiri and 125 kmph between Ratnagri and Panvel.
Railway minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the 13-coach train on May 22. The state-of-the-art train has several facilities on-board, such as WiFi, infotainment screens, vacuum bio toilets and automatic doors.

Tejas has not achieved the speeds of 153 kmph, 137 kmph and 125 kmph respy. The max speed of this section is 120 kmph in non monsoons while during Monsoons it can run at 90 kmph max. You have calculated speed based on inflated kms of KR. It means for Konkan Railway 1 km = 1.4 kms. The stretchwise speed of 22120 Tejas is as under :

11000 Railway Employees May Lose Jobs, Central Railway Board Sent Letters to 17 Zones.
• When PM Modi announced to give 10 million jobs every year, eligible youths were looking to get placed but despite any visible increase in the job market. Companies are calling for job cut in reverse.
• In another escalation of job loss. On 25th May, the Central Railway Board has written a letter to all the 17 zonal headquarters to abolish about 11 thousand posts towards curtailing the cost. Board will decide which non-usable posts will be abolish.
The official also claims that termination of such posts will not affect the functioning of the Railways. Currently, Railways has around 15 lacs employees.

नई दिल्‍ली। सरकार रेलवे स्‍टेशनों को विश्‍वस्‍तरीय बनाने के लिए उन्‍हें निजी कंपनियों को सौंपने जा रही है। सरकार का लक्ष्‍य देशभर के 400 प्रमुख रेलवे स्‍टेशनों को सार्वजनिक-निजी भागीदारी (पीपीपी) के जरिये आधुनिक बनाने की है। इसी योजना के पहले चरण में 23 स्‍टेशनों की
ई-नीलामी 28 जून को आयोजित की जाएगी। इसमें हर स्‍टेशन के लिए बोली लगाने के लिए एक आधार मूल्‍य रखा गया है।
कानपुर सेंट्रल स्‍टेशन का आधार मूल्‍य 200 करोड़ रुपए तो इलाहाबाद स्‍टेशन का आधार मूल्‍य 150 करोड़ रुपए तय किया गया है। इन स्‍टेशनों की नीलामी से सरकार को तकरीबन 4,000 करोड़ रुपए मिलने की उम्‍मीद है। वहीं इन स्‍टेशनों के विकास पर 30,000 करोड़ रुपए खर्च होने का अनुमान है। यह भी पढ़ें: देश के 1,000 रेलवे स्‍टेशन और बस अड्डों पर खुलेंगे जन औषधि स्‍टोर, सरकार ने बनाई नई योजना
पहले चरण में इन स्‍टेशनों की होगी नीलामी
पहले चरण में यानि 28 जून को कानपुर सेंट्रल, इलाहाबाद, उदयपुर, चेन्‍नई सेंट्रल, बेंगलुरु, लोकमान्‍य तिलक (टर्मिनस) मुंबई, पुणे, थाणे, विशाखापट्नम, हावड़ा, कामाख्‍या, फरीदाबाद, जम्‍मू तवि, बैंगलोर छावनी, भोपाल, मुंबई सेंट्रल (मुख्‍य), बोरीवली और इंदौर आदि।
या‍त्रियों को मिलेंगी विश्‍वस्‍तरीय सुविधाएं
निजी हाथों में रेलवे स्‍टेशन को सौंपने से यहां साफ-सफाई तो बेहतर रहेगी ही साथ ही यहां यात्रियों को विश्‍व-स्‍तरीय सुविधाएं भी उपलब्‍ध कराई जाएंगी। हालांकि अभी यह स्‍पष्‍ट नहीं है कि इन सुविधाओं के लिए यात्रियों से कोई शुल्‍क लिया जाएगा या नहीं।
क्‍या होगी व्‍यवस्‍था
नीलामी में बोली जीतने वाले को रेलवे स्‍टेशन 45 साल की लीज पर दिया जाएगा। रेलवे इन स्‍टेशनों पर टिकटिंग, सुरक्षा, पार्सल सर्विस और ट्रेनों के संचालन की जिम्‍मेदारी पहले की तरह ही संभालती रहेगी। निजी कंपनियों को स्‍टेशन के आसपास की जमीन विकसित करने के लिए दी जाएगी। जहां वह होटल, मॉल, मल्‍टीप्‍लेक्‍स और अन्‍य कॉमर्शियल यूनिट बनाएंगी। इसके अलावा वे स्‍टेशन के प्‍लेटफॉर्म और लाउंज को उन्‍नत कर उन्‍हें विश्‍व स्‍तरीय सुविधायुक्‍त बनाएंगी। स्‍टेशन पर फूड स्‍टॉल, रिटायरिंग रूम्‍स, प्‍ले एरिया भी निजी कंपनियों द्वारा विकसित किया जाएगा।
