Railways has embarked on an ambitious project to speed up train movement in busy corridors and accordingly undertaken an ardous task of fencing off the Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai routes at a cost of about Rs. 45 lakh per km to run trains at 160 km per hour.
Fencing off the entire route is crucial for running trains at 160 km per hour which can be later raised to 200 km per hour, a senior Railway Ministry official said.
Describing it as a paradigm shift for rail network development, he said fencing is essential for preventing trespassing and cattle movement to ensure high speed and safety and it will find prominent mention in the budget papers.
Besides fencing, track and signalling upgradation and elimination of unmanned level-crossings along the way for major trunk routes of Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah sections will be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 21,000 crore.
According to the feasibility study, it is a remunerative project with both routes having high rate of return.
While the rate of return for Delhi-Howrah route is 18 per cent, it is 14.7 per cent for Delhi-Mumbai, he said.
The Delhi-Mumbai section will cover Baroda-Ahmedabad route and Delhi-Howrah sector will also include Kanpur-Lucknow corridor in the project.
The two major trunk routes have been taken up in the first phase and later on Howrah-Chennai and Mumbai-Chennai sectors will also be taken up, he said.
Since the Railways has of late seen some derailments, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will announce of a special safety fund of about Rs. 20,000 crore for the fiscal 2017-18.
Railways has sought Rs. 1.19 lakh crore over the next five years from the government for safety upgradation of the rail network and the Finance Ministry is likely to grant Rs. 20,000 crore in the first year.

If even I compare DMRC fare from NDLS to ANVT metro its 18 rs I think, while in memu u will give rs 10, in a metro everyone will be travelling with tickets, in memu atleast 20-30% were tickets less, some have passes, memu provide more seats as metro dont, moreover metro are not fully govt sector while IR under govt sector

are comparing W.R.T cost. That also justifies why there should be proper fencing i.e Rajdhani shatabdi ka cost badh nahi gaya hai? Dynamic prices- paying double n triple the cost? and also premium tatkal in normal trains.
I am comparing it W.R.T capability of the Country i.e if it can be done for metro, why can't be done for IR?

You can compare non-ac metro of kolkata and emu there. Buses might be the cheapest, but that doesn't mean they r best choice just coz they r cheap. It differs from person to person, what one opts for.
Now, the standards n security, of the common path of IR, that 110 kmph trains and 160 kmph trains would be using, has to be of levels of 160 kph. just delhi-agc of IR is 160 kmph and I know people don't care about.
I do accept, IR is careless, that's the proof I gave through the video.
Doing argument with the CRS, that already shatabdi is running at 150 kph on the same stretch, so, just a 10 kph increase is ok.
Till I know crs, western circle are really strict, it would be real tough time for WR to get permission for them. That is a good thing.

I am not demanding anything. It's IR's call.
Instead of justifying improper fencing from Govt's part and blaming just the public, aiming for good fencing by the time, NDLS-BCT/HWH gets upgraded, would be anytime a better thing.
If cost is such a hindrance then, there's absolutely no need to upgrade any services at all, at the first place.

Passengers doing break journey at Barauni Jn must confirm whether thier train will depart from OLD station OR NEW station as both the station have same code BJU.
Example:- Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express departs from old station having many plaforms while LTT-Guwahati Express departs from new station which has just one platform and is at 15-20 mins walking distance from old one.

This can be answered only by bju staffs or vendors there.

I was at old stn itself waiting for dwarka express. .. I checked running status it showed departed from bju.. but I didn't hear annoucements nor saw d train.
Then the vendor said it departs from new bju stn
Ltt ghy express was abt to reach bju... so I went to new stn. Walking by track side ... There is no proper road there. If road s followed it becomes too long to reach new stn

major disaster was averted around 10.40pm on January 24, two days before Republic Day due to the alertness of the motorman of the train, which was running on the CST-Kalyan fast line carrying around 700 passengers. He spotted the piece about few metres before Diva railway station and immediately alerted to the railway control authorities.
Anti-terrorism agencies have been roped in to probe the alleged role of ISI or any other terrorist organisation in the recent derailments that occurred in North India. Investigators are probing the terror angle particularly because they feel that it cannot be the handiwork of one person, as it would take more than one person to lift the 7-metre railway track that weighed 300kg. They are also looking into the careless attitude of railway authorities who failed to monitor the railway tracks properly despite it being a busy route. “The involvement of an organised group with an intention to execute a major disaster cannot be ruled out,” said an officer.
Deputy commissioner of police Samadhan Pawar (Central Railway) said, “We have been investigating the case from all angels including sabotage and few people have been picked up for questioning who took to take the same route every day that passed through the spot where the metal piece was found.”

Ghat section akele utar gya. That's more important. Performance wise wap7 also takes 40 mins hv experienced it myself. In anyways 12290 has slack due to platform no 8 of ngp n 18 of cst. Where gatimaan departs particularly frm no 5 only as its on mainline. 12290 cn easily save 20 mins if departed frm even pf7 Wap5 is enough for ngp drnt. Just like wap4 n cam3 is.
And as Hlhb needs wap5/7 . Wap5 is better link
Wap7 are good with heavier loads of sevagram vidarbha pushpak.

"It has not been refused by the CM. He has said it has not yet been approved so it can mean that a request may have gone to the Union government and is waiting for approval. However, that the Centre is considering the fast rail corridor is good news for the state. The cities are expected to see several infrastructural developments. If the fast corridor is to be developed between the three cities, setting up of new tracks and land acquisition will be needed," a Railways official requesting anonymity told TOI.
The Rs 98,000 crore Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project may go operational by 2023. The corridor is expected to have 10 stations and Japanese International Cooperation Agency that had conducted studies recently said the fares will be among the cheapest in the world. The maximum design speed of this train is 350 kmph and the journey would take 2 hours 58 minutes.
The Railways ministry recently said they were considering new corridors that could be converted into high speed with trains travelling at 250 kmph. The corridors include Delhi-Mumbai, Mumbai-Chennai, Delhi-Kolkata and Delhi-Nagpur.
"Once the Union government approves the route, work will begin. On Tuesday, the state government provided a seed funding of Rs 500 crore to Maharashtra Railway Infrastructure Development Company to facilitate new and existing rail projects in the state. The company will also look into land acquisition, rehabilitation and compensation," another Railways official said.

Nagpur is second capital of MH, not Pune. That makes it more important, politically. there no biased decision there.
The CM frm NGP reportedly gave funds for the rakes of the expected CSTM-NDLS Rajdhani train, which gives no benefit to Nagpur.
You are comparing Mumbai-Pune with Mumbai-Nagpur.
The actual comparison should be Mumbai-Howrah and Mumbai-Nagpur.

big distance of Mumbai Delhi is getting upgraded to 160 kmph being a 'A' class route (potentials of 160 kph), that is real big distance in just one go.
Similarly, We have Mumbai Howrah amongst A class routes, out which Mumbai Nagpur might be done in first leg, be it upgradation of existing double electrified route from 110 Kmph to 160 kmph Nagpur-Igatpuri like for NDLS-BCT or separate new Corridor like for Bandra-Kurla C to Ahemdabad Bullet, using the same BKC terminal for both.
Nagpur comes in centre of 4 metros to be connected by High Speed out of which most economical for Nagpur, surely would be Nagpur-Mumbai route for obvious reasons, so, when opportunity strikes, why not it a consideration?
Besides, Just one route Mumbai Ahemdabad
how much will it benefit actually? Same terminal could be used for Mumbai Nagpur as well.
From Ahemdabad where would it get extended its unclear but if Mumbai Nagpur gets bullet, it can extended to Nagpur Howrah.
Ofcourse, great work would be required through the Thull ghats, but when Katra can get connected likewise, why cant this one?

About, Pune-Ahemdabad High speed corridor. Pune-Nasik new route is approved, Nasik-Surat is under survey and Surat-Ahemdabad is getting upgraded to 160 kmph. Giving a Pune-Mumbai Bullet would be a big waste for such a small distance, where shatabdi was a big failure, instead of that Pune-Nasik-Surat-BRC-Adi, it would be more economical.
There is no need of bullet here despite there is no ghat nothing, a semi high speed Pune-Ahemdabad train would be enough.

It is a well known fact that Mumbai-Nagpur route is the part of A class Mumbai-Howrah Route, having potentials of 160 kmph. Currently, What is the max permissible speed (mps) of Mumbai-Kasara-Igatpuri-Nagpur route? For start, the Igatpuri-Nagpur route should be upgraded to 130 kmph and subsequently, to 160 kmph.
