Entry# 24103 Reply Add Bookmark Remove Post ![]() I want to travel in AP express from New delhi to mathura in unreserved/General coach. But ticket provider deny me by saying that i have to take ticket for new delhi to bhopal.. please tell me clear about this rule. is there any rule of minimum Kilo metre in some trains? @first blogger: Yes AP EXP has some distance restrictions, to travel in that train you must purchase ticket for at least 500 KM, so the first stop after 500 KM is BHOPAL that is why the clerk asked you to purchase ticket up to BHOPAL. If found travelling with out proper ticket you will be fined. @Jitesh: Mar 14 (05:20PM). @ first blogger : In case of minimum distance of 500 kms., the actual fare charges will be as per the fare table slab of 491-500 kms. The min distance criteria operates for minimum fare charges purpose based on kms and not based on second or another subsequent intermediate station. Plz correct for any error. There is also a provision that Min distance criteria will not be applicable for the sleeper coaches declared as unreserved coaches by Zonal railways in notified trains and in specified sections. In such case actual fare as shown in the concerned column slab. ... The blogger is requested to post full fact details - to discard any misunderstanding that might have occured at the counter. @Kapadia : Mar 14 (06:40PM) But after 500 KM the trains stops at Bhopal, so the passenger must have to purchase ticket up to Bhopal if want to start journey from New Delhi. How will system issue a ticket only for 500 KM without the station name? @Jitesh: Mar 14 (06:42PM) Sirjee, There is no complication in issue of tickets. The train fares and issue of tickets - both are different things in the context of minimum distance factor. egs. For New Delhi to Mathura - (141 kms) For New Delhi to Agra Cantt - ( 195 kms) For New Delhi to Gwalior - ( 313 kms) For New Delhi to Jhansi - ( 410 kms) The ticket for all above intermediate stations is possible with less than 500 kms. with the condition that they are issued at a train fare - kms slab - applicable to 491-500 kms (plz Refer train fare slab table). So in simple words the train fare for all the above intermediate stops (under 500 kms distance ciriteria) - i.e. upto Mathura, Agra, Gwalior and Jhansi would be same irrespective of actual kms distance (based on train fare slab of 491-500 kms). ii) For New Delhi to Bhopal - ( 701 kms) , the ticket would be based on acutal kms slab of 701-710 kms. Plz correct for any error. @Kapadia : Mar 14 (07:47PM) Got you point Thanks for clearing the point. according to this for getting down to Mathura Jn the person must purchase ticket up to Bhopal. This is the case like Duronto where person have to pay end to end fare for getting down at technical stop. But the person can not board from these technical stops. Same case is there, by purchasing ordinary ticket between say JHS & BPL the passenger can not board this particular train, if found travelling he will be dealt as per extent railway rules. I have seen personally that at BPL station when such type of trains arrive(like this one) some RPF person check tickets for general boogie travelers and if they find any of the case mentioned above they deal them very badly. Still I invite Mr Murli to tell us some thing on the issue. @Jitesh: Mar 14 (07:55PM) Acknowledging your reply with ..... Two more points that is worthy of noting is that - As mentioned in my earlier reply and I repeat .... i) ...." There is also a provision that Min distance criteria will not be applicable for the sleeper coaches declared as unreserved coaches by Zonal railways in notified trains and in specified sections. In such case actual fare as shown in the concerned column slab. ... " (As the original blogger wanted unreserved / General coach ticket) ii) For all other Mail / Express trains, the minimum distance criteria is 200 kms for sleeper class. And for no classes - it is 500 kms. Jiteshji , is there 500 kms minimum distance criteria for AP Express/ 2724 ? @first blogger: @all bloggers: Regarding distance restrictions, please refer to page 271 of Southern Railway Time Table (It must be the same in other Time Tables as well) quoting only for AP Express since that is the subject under discussion: Train No 2723/2724 Hyderbad-New Delhi/AP Express will not carry passengers Holding 1 Class/AC Sleeper/AC 3 Tier Sleeper Class tickets booked for stations for distances/stations or less: Holding tickets for less than 600 kms Holding II class tickets booked for Distances/Stations or less: Holding tickets for less than 600 kms. But will carry in II class unreserved between: HYDERABAD/SECUNDERABAD TO KAGHAZNAGAR/BALAHARSHAH AND NAGPUR ONLY. So you will see on the outbound journey from Hyderabad Passengers in UR will be carried beyond only after 600 kms. Please work backwards to get the distance restriction from NDLS/NZM please. Good wishes. @Kapadia : Mar 14 (07:47PM) Mr Kapadia, There is a COMPLICATION in issue of tickets in this case. To travel in AP express you need to buy a SF ticket, and if you ask for SF ticket, they will ask you for train. So when you specify the train, the PRS system will not allow issue of SF tickets on trains with distance restrictions. The PRS clerk has no discretion in the matter. It is another matter that the person can buy an ordinary ticket and pay the TT (hopefully without fine !) and get into the AP express. Please note the significant difference in the statement above. It is not in the hands of the Booking window if you specify SF ticket, and he does not have the discretion. The minimum booking distance is already fed into the system so that the booking clerk cannot tamper with it Sir. Good wishes. @first blogger: Book a ticket in SL class from New Delhi to Agra. You will get a confirmed berth for any date, Get down at Mathura. If you have the comfort of SL class available, why travel in General coach, which would already be packed with twice its carrying capacity. @MST IndianRailways: Mar 14 (10:34PM) Not allowed Sir ! Please see the rule i have quoted above..... in this blog.. Good wishes. @MST IndianRailways: Mar 14 (10:34PM) I mean NOT allowed on AP Express. The passenger can take any other train, BUT NOT TRAINS with Distance Restrictions as mentioned above. Good wishes. @Murli: Mar 14 (09:08PM) Thanks for the info. However at Borivali - PRS counter clerk not asking for SF train name while issuing SF tickets. Few superfast trains are available in the morning towards Surat side and SF ticket is valid in any SF train, in case you miss any particular one you desired. The window clerk does not ask the name of SF train at Borivali. It appears from your reply, that General minimum distance criterias are not applicable in case of AP Express/2723 and also rule exempting minimum distance criteria in General Unreserved coaches. Strange exceptions. @Murli: Mar 15 (08:29AM) Murli Sir I wish to differ from you, I just checked the availability status between NDLS to AGC in AP EXP and it is available and it gives me permission to book the tickets. Plz Check. @first blogger: Yes thera are rules in some trains , if you are travelling with gen ticket in dist bound train ,you may have to pay 280/- fine if caught by tte. Few trains which i know are 1.Brahmaputra Exp 480km bound 2.Dehradun Chennai Exp 500 Km 3. Poorva Exp 480 Km 4.Gomati Exp 200km 5. North East Exp 480 km 6.Pushpak Exp 500km...and many more @Jitesh: Mar 14 (05:20PM) Thank you for your valuable information.. sir i will be greateful to you. if you will tell some other tain having distance bouding like AP express... it will help all those travells for short distance and can save from fine.. @anon: Mar 15 (05:02PM) actually I have a list of some trains in which distance restrictions are applicable but not able to locate it, I am trying to find out, any one wants that can mail me directly at jitesh6781@gmail.com @Jitesh: Mar 15 (06:36PM) k....can anyone say if we dont buy a proper reserved ticket(may it be waitling list, rac or tatkal anything) and want to go beyond 500 kms....can u give the soln...what can be done in this case? To all the blogger who have contributed in this thread: Thanks for valued suggestions / inputs. 1. When distance restriction is there in a train, one has to buy a ticket in that train at least up to the halt of that train which comes soon after that distance is crossed. You are not allowed to buy a ticket for a halt for less than the Minimum Distance by buying a ticket for the exact minimum distance provided. 2. Even when distance restriction is there in a train, reserved tickets, short of minimum distance, are often issued by railways (in its own interest) to generate revenue from the seats which are meant from subsequent halts falling at a distance less than the minimum distance. 3. However, only confirmed ticket holders will be allowed to travel in such (my point no. 2) cases and a wait listed ticket holder will be penalised with Rs. 250 plus the fare difference between what he / she would actual have paid and what the fare is till the earliest halt after the minimum distance restriction ends. 4. If one buys a ticket with Superfast charges, it does not entitle him /her to use that ticket in a Superfast train which has a distance restriction (and his / her ticket is short of that restriction). If caught, penalty will have to be paid. Thanks again! @S K Jain: Mar 15 (07:45PM) @ others : Such info in full details is desired and ought to be available prominently on the official Railway website. Unfortunately it is not so. The complications still prevail in the absence of authentic source of info. @S K Jain: Mar 15 (07:45PM) Thanks Jain Sir your information confirms my point that due to distance restrictions first stop is Bhopal for which ticket will be issue from New Delhi. Thanks for enhancing our knowledge. I got the list of some trains with distance restrictions. Any one want that can mail me @ jitesh6781@gmail.com @Jitesh: Mar 15 (08:07PM) Yes, Jitesh ji! It has to be Bhopal (the first stop after distance restrcition is taken care of) only and not the point where 500 Kms. are just completing. Thanks! @Kapadia : Mar 15 (07:55PM) There is a lot of confusions (because of inadequate or contradictory or old information retained) and complications (because of unclear wordings) so far it is Railways. Even practices are different. Not to divert the issue, I witnessed a lower class Jaipur - Mumbai ticket holder in 2956 Jaipur - Mumbai Superfast Express, to be penalised and charged only up to Kota (and not upto Mumbai). The argument of the TTE was that he had been posted in Jaipur Division of Railways and hence can not issued Penal Ticket beyond Kota. The rist to ticket holder was there that after Kota, a new TTE would come and charge her. Thanks! @Murli: Mar 15 (08:28AM) Dear Mr Murli, I can book a ticket upto Agra in this train. Pls try doing it yourself. @first blogger: some train have restriction on second class unreserved ticket holders and season ticket holders. In 2724 A.P.Express its 600kms between NDLS-JHS in 2nd class and does not have any exception. @first blogger: This train having restriction of 500 KMs. @TWIN: Mar 16 (12:45PM) I deleted your posting @ Today (12:46PM) You are giving wrong information to bloggers by asking them to pay bribe to TTE. @first blogger: Dear All, as per the rules of Indian Railways, even if there is a distance/section restrictions on some trains, the passengers can book short journey tickets if berths are available and travel. Even unreserved tickets can be booked on the platform / inside the train against vacancies. Mar 15 (07:03PM) Mumbai August Kranti Rajdhani/2953back to top 4. Entry# 24274 Reply Add Bookmark Remove Post ![]() Does this train halt at Andheri Station (first halt after Bombay Central)? The official website does not show this halt, but I believe this train halts at Andheri Station on both the onward (2953) and return (2954) journeys. Where does one get the correct information? @first blogger: Which office site does not show it ? It is a fact that 2953 and 2954 both stop at Andheri. This stop is on experimantal basis and has not been converted yet to 'Permanent'. @S K Jain: Mar 15 (07:23PM) Thanks for your reply. The Table on this very page shows a halt for 2953 (and similarly for 2954) at Andheri but if you click on 'Official site' just above the table on this site, the Andheri halt is not shown, please. @anon: Mar 15 (07:36PM) You are perfectly right Sir. In the time table it is not there (in fact, Andhrei seems to have removed). Yet, I have confirmed even at Andheri station, it stops in both the directions. Thanks! @S K Jain: Mar 15 (09:31PM) Thanks, sir, for the pains you have taken to clarify my doubt. You even checked with the station to confirm these two trains halt at Andheri! I think even if a halt is on experimental basis, the Railways should mention the halts in their official sites, and specify that they are experimental. If such updation is not made, the usefulness of the Tables is reduced, thus defeating the very purpose of Internet/real time information. Hope they make these experimental halts at Andheri into regular halts to serve the people who find Andheri to be a better place to board than travelling all the way to Bombay Central. Entry# 24055 Reply Add Bookmark Remove Post ![]() Hi, i took this train on 12th march....... now 'm sharing my experience..... 1st time i witnessed on time departure......... the train left on dot 11 am from howrah. coaches are new and very comfortable, i was in A1 and went thru the entire train. slipper coaches also have attenders. The train reached yesvantpur at 3.29 pm 31 min before its schedule time. the train runs most of the time above 100 kmph. technical stoppages are 1) Bhubaneshwar, 2) Vijaynagaram, 3) Vijaywada and 4) Renigunta. Quality of food is very good and service is very good, they clean the train at an interval of 3 to 4 hrs thru out the journey. Now The Food.................. On 1st Day The Served at first tomato soup around 12 noon then lunch came around 1 pm, comprised of 2 paratha, jira rice, dal, salad, chicken curry/Panner curry, curd..... and ice cream. High tea was served around 5 pm comprises of a sweet, juice, sandwich, coffee/tea, 2 nos of chocolate. again they served tomato soup around 7 pm and dinner was served around 8.30 menu was same bt it was plain rice and roti instead of jira rice and paratha, with ice cream. On 2nd Day bed tea/coffee with biscuit was served at 6am followed by breakfast a/c to ur choice frm there menu with coffee/tea and juice. rest is as same as of first day. but preparations were different. It's a very good train, food is good and runs in time......... but the minus point is food were served cold. this was little annoying, but except it was a great journey to remember....... no doubt a can say DURONTO is the Pride of IR @first blogger: Hi frnd...thnxx for sharing ur experience..but cld u plzzz tell abt the duration of the stop tht it made at each technical halt...and finally do u hve the eunuchs moving freely in this train like other mail/express trains and harassing the passengers for money.... @anon: Mar 15 (09:41PM) Duration in tech stop was variable 10 min in bbs, about 12 mins in vizaynagaram, vizaywada about 8 mins, and about 20 mins in renigunta. as i was in ii ac i don kno abt eunuchs bt a interesting thing i witnessed........ some people boarded the train at vizaynagaram jn bt coach attenders make them to leave the train. @first blogger: Thanks for writing in such a detail. Looks every thing was good excepting that Dal and Chicken / Paneer Curry did not change at all and with Lunch / Dinner, the same (preparation different) was there AND the food served was not hot. May be improved with time. Thanks again! @anon: Mar 15 (07:11PM) wow....good to know that the coach attendants didnt take money instead. Mar 13 (02:01PM) Bandra Garib Rath Express/2909back to top 7. So that i want to cancel my train ticket. Please can any one tell me that if i cancel the ticket of First AC,then how much amount will be deducted by Railway. @first blogger: If it is a confirmed ticket, then Rs. 60 will be deducted for each passenger on cancellation.Else Rs 20 for each passenger in case of WL/RAC tickets. @first blogger: As per the rules, you will get refund of whatever amount you paid - reduced by a flat Rs. 70/- towards cancellation charge. (if you cancel ticket now or before 24 hrs of the departure of the train). This is very nominal amount of cancellation charges. @Kapadia : Mar 10 (04:35PM) Yes,correct. Thanks for correcting me. It is Rs 70 and not 60 for 1AC. @first blogger: If the confirmed ticked is cancelled before 24 hours of departure, only Rs.70/- per ticket will be deducted as cancellation charges. Lakshmi Narayana, Andhra Pradesh. @first blogger: hi... you can cancel the ticket and probably the min payment charges like 20/- if you buy online will be deducted. if you cancel 2 days before the journey date probably you will get the full amount. The more you delay the more you will loose. you can find the same in www.irctc.co.in website and look for cancel procedures.....
