the status wont change. simply visit a prs and get the BP changed by writing a request letter to the reservation superviser.

quota will not change.give an written application for change of BP to any PRS counter and get it changed,however you will not get refund for untravelled part of your journey.

so,i may not change my boarding point till my ticket conform?

Yes very Much..while booking Keep booking point as Mumbai and boarding point as Surat,you shall get Mumbai quota.But you can travel from Surat only.
