This train (MDU RMM) is kept on the Madurai platform way before the departure time of 12:40, so if you come early (~1 hour before departure), you can get a nice window seat, and try getting a seat to your left (direction MDU RMM) to avoid the sun. The train will be quite packed by the time it departs Madurai, and majority of the passengers get down at station PMK. And after station RMD, this train runs quite empty.
Once the train approaches the final phase of it's journey (way before the pamban bridge), you can spot the sea far away on both the sides of the train, and as the train progresses, you can notice the sea shore

getting closer and closer towards you. Just before the train enters the bridge, you can spot many peacocks on the side of the tracks. Once you enter the bridge, (track speed limit: 15 kmph), if you look down, you can notice the sea water gushing with pace in a certain direction, and if you focus fully down, it's almost scary / thrilling at the same time ... makes you wonder how in the world did they construct the bridge in the middle of sea. You also have a wonderful view of sea all around. Even after you cross the bridge, before arriving at RMM, the sorroundings would be very pleasant with white beach sand dunes/palm trees/coconut trees... See the attached pics. You almost feel like you're strolling on a beach, but you're on a train.

The train route between Shimoga and Talguppa is VERY beautiful, where the train passes through the forest with an occassional village in between. If you take this journey in the monsoon season, even better. Look at the attached pics. This train runs pretty much empty between Shimoga & Talguppa, so you may get yourself a nice window seat (even in general/unreserved compartment) and enjoy the nature with cool wind on your face.

Useful Agree
If you are a Nature lover The ~1 hour section between Yelahanka (YNK) and Gauribidanur (GBD) is very beautiful, where the train pass through vast plains, curving through several hills. Get a window seat to your right (YNK GBD) to enjoy the view.

This entire route runs through the lush agricultural fields & villages of the famous "East Godavari" district. I found birds of many species on this journey, so if you are a bird lover, its a feast for you. (i even spotted 2 big fox crossing the tracks before the railbus).
Interesting facts:
Max speed of this rail car is 40 Kmph
It

also has a "mobile gateman" on-board (At the road crossings, he gets off the railbus & closes the gate manually!).
Tickets are also issued on-board. (Pls note that this railbus does not run on Tuesdays)
The end-to-end ticket from Kakinada to Kotipalli is a whopping 10 Rupees !
Closest 'main' railway station to access this route: Samalkot Jn (on Vijayawada - Visakhapatnam main line)
Town bus station along this route: Ramachandrapuram
Place of interest close-by: Yanam (The river Godavari ends its long journey from Nashik & joins the Sea here - Bhairavapalem)

Yes.. this railbus starts at CCT - Kakinada Town station (about 15 Kms away from Samalkot Jn) from Platform 1.
Just ask the people on the platform & they will show the place where it usually starts on PF 1.

Best train to see the beauty of Koraput - Rayagada section, which is loaded with Tunnels, tall bridges, thick forests, hills, vast agricultural lands, village tribes, animals ... i mean the train route from Koraput to Rayagada is absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
This train runs fairly empty until Rayagada, so you wont find any trouble getting a window seat / door spot :-)
The mini-samosa's sold by the local vendors for breakfast after the train crosses Damanjodi are super yummy :-)

If you are visiting Jagdalpur, there are 2 phenomenal waterfalls within an hours drive: Tiratgarh Falls & Chitrakot Falls (dont forget to take the boat ride here). Definitely worth visiting !!
