Following issues may be considered:
1. Train should be between Mumbai CST and Madgaon Jn. This would be beneficial to passengers of on the western line in Mumbai (Dadar could be a halt), and also beneficial to passengers staying in hotels in south Goa, since many star resorts are there in south Goa, and Karmali is far, especially considering that the public transport scenario in Goa is pathetic.
2. This is one train that desperately needs to be sped. It should take maximum 9.5 hours between Madgaon and Mumbai CST. The premium
...
pricing would not serve much purpose if it maintains the current timing, it is known fact that double decker running between LTT and Madgaon is not so popular.
3. Timing may be changed. Departing late night and arriving in the morning would mean uncomfortable travel, given that this is an entirely chair car train without sleeping berths. Departure from Madgaon at 12 noon (since hotels have checkout time 12 noon), and arrival at Mumbai CST at 9.15 p.m. (marginally ahead of Mandovi) would be decent, since passengers can be treated to both lunch and dinner on the train, given that the cuisine is prepared by star chefs (of course will have to see to believe it). Return it could depart from Mumbai CST at 8 a.m. and arrive at Madgaon at 5.15 p.m. (again marginally ahead of Mandovi).
4. Sawantwadi should be given a halt, more halts may be considered (Kankavali, Sangameshwar, Khed) since it is a day train, but halts should be genuine so as to not compromise on speed and timing.
5. The train should run punctually, since passengers are paying a premium. It is my general observation that trains are generally punctual between Madgaon and Mumbai, but trains from Mumbai to Madgaon are generally delayed (e.g. Konkan Kanya, Mandovi, occasional delays of 12133 Mumbai CST-Mangalore).
6. Passengers dirtying the train should be fined heavily, fine could start upwards of Rs. 5,000, in addition to cleaning up the mess created by the passengers. It is sad that civic sense lacks in Indians, we do not regard public property as our own. While it is encouraging that this beautiful train is coming on our Konkan stretch where the passengers are generally civilized and decent, it is also our responsibility to treat these trains with love and care. I know that we have that cleanliness factor within us, since Indians do not dirty the places when they are in foreign countries. That fear of getting penalized should be present on such trains. I am sure it will go a long way in maintaining cleanliness.
Looking forward to welcoming this beauty on the Konkan route... :)

Train is rescheduled to depart from Vasco-da-Gama on 20-04-2017 at 11.40 a.m. Got an SMS from Indian Railways, but NTES is not showing any update about rescheduling of this train. Also, Margao and Vasco-da-Gama railway stations are not answering repeated calls. Can anybody please confirm if they have received such news / have information about the same? Thanks in anticipation.

If flight arrives at 12.25 p.m., is there sufficient time to reach Secunderabad station to board this train, considering it a Monday afternoon. Also what is the best and fastest way to commute from the airport to Secunderabad station?

Normally its fine as you have 3 hrs gap. But better get in at LPI as you will around 4 hrs gap.
There are AC buses which takes 275 rs to Lingampally busstop and again you have to take bus or Auto to station is one way. If you take Cab to LPI it will cost 700-800 rs from Airport.

Book a cab from Airpot to Ligampally station directly....it wont take more than 1 hour ...even if you start at 1:30 ..you should be able to reach LPI by 3:30 PM max where as the SC-UBL arrived at 4PM at LPI..

1 hour max on outer ring road from airport to gachibowli. Gachibowli-LPI takes 20 mins. So, you will have free time.
Cab Fare Rs. 700(approx).

Train is standing on loop line at Madgaon Jn. Has 8 AC-3-Tier coaches and 1 AC-2-tier coach. Sleeper also may be 5-6 maximum. Sleeper coaches are old and rickety, AC coaches are comparatively decent

Travelled by this train on 20-Jan-2017 from MAO-GDG, points noted include:
1. Travelled by AC-2-tier. Coach is numbered AV1, coach position was 8th from loco.
2. Loco were twins from ERODE Shed
3. AV1 and BV1 coaches are 2013-manufactured; fitted with bio-toilets. Excellent maintenance as informed by fellow IRI members. Coach was spic and span, and had a very quiet and undisturbed travel.
4.
...
Hyderabad portion of the train was in the front, followed by the VSG-Tirupati portion.
5. No pantry car; orders will be taken for lunch after Kulem / Castlerock, and lunch will be served at Castlerock/ Londa Jn. Options include Veg thali (chapati, vegetable, dal, rice, and curd), veg biriyani, egg biriyani, chicken biriyani. I didn't order food from the vendors since I had packed from home. However, travellers may please note that Castlerock / Londa Jn. do not qualify as hygienic stations for the purpose of food consumption and hence, may think twice before ordering food from the vendors. Best option is pack some stuff at Madgaon Jn , and include plenty of fruits, maybe packed foods like biscuits and homemade food. Additionally, food options may be available at Hubli Jn, since this train arrives on PF 1 at Hubli, and there is a 10-15 minute halt.
6. Too much of slack given between Dharwad-Hubli, nearly 1 hour 10 minutes given for a journey that normally takes 25 minutes. Clearly train can be sped up by at least 1 hour. I don't have much idea after Gadag Jn about the slack time given.

Second AC was almost empty, barely 35% occupied. Almost 5 entire bays of 6 berths (upper, lower, and side upper and side lower) were fully empty. I expected it to be full at Hubli, but even at Hubli it was empty. Similar position was noticed in 3-tier AC. Sleeper class however had reasonable occupancy of about 65-70%. Even the unreserved general coaches gave comfortable seats to all passengers, it was also almost empty. Which means:
1. The public are not aware about the train; or
2. The train is not so popular, owing
...

to the long time it takes from Vasco to Hyderabad.
Apparently, the Tirupati portion was better in terms of occupancy than the Hyderabad portion.
This could be because just 1.5 hours before, the Vasco-Kacheguda slip portion of 18048 leaves Madgaon.
Although both take long time to reach Hyderabad, the major passengers travelling up till Guntakal Jn may prefer 18048 rather than 17022/17420, owing to convenient timings.
