Any reviews on the 2A coach A1, from Vizag?
Travelling by it next month. Will probably shift to AP AC if the coach is too old.
Responses would be appreciated.

As an engineering 1st year student from Vizag studying in Delhi,I was very happy when this train was announced as I thought I wouldn't have to waste two complete days going home travelling by SJ,Samata and Link. But after this train's introduction, its timetable promptly led me to book 2 sets of return journeys by Air India as it was much more comfortable paying 4k for 2hrs rather than 3k for 36 hrs.Vizag-Delhi will be having 5 daily flights (6 considering unreliable Spicejet) starting late November and this train will not even be a choice for majority of the flight takers because of its schedule. Many argue that the timetable has been prepared so due to scheduling constraints. But,when AC trains are now such important money-spinners and expensive LHB rakes have been provided for this train,I fail to see the justification for this horrendous timetable which makes this train slower than both SJ and Samata,trains...
which give 6 AC coaches in capacity a day.
I agree that NDLS-VSKP via BZA is a route that does not warrant 7 3A's daily (planned) in addition to existing capacity, let alone 5 2A's,but that does not mean that IR should just run this train for the sake of running it.This train was born out of political compulsions, but IR should try to make the best out of the given circumstances.A total of 5 coaches (2X3A and 3X2A) can be removed and augmented in trains which need them.In the meanwhile IR should improve this train's schedule and wait for passenger traffic to pickup and then add coaches as necessary.
I hope IR wakes up and seriously tries to improve the train's occupancy.
P.S. A departure about 20-25 min. after Chennai GR/Raj/Dur can be feasible with an evening arrival at VSKP in about 28-29 hours.Only a suggestion, please give any other alternatives!

The point is that many people will not travel by flight spending 4k and instead would travel by 3A at 2k if it has a better schedule.

The speedup I'm talking about is of 7-8 hours.
If the journey takes only one day, then I think that many more passengers will take the train.
The current schedule simply eats up 2 days of a passenger's time.

Intermediate passengers can use this train as well, can't they?
This train passes through a high population region.Proper timetable can work wonders.

SJ takes 32.5 hrs.I can't see why a train trailing Chennai GR/Raj can't do it in 28-29 hrs.
NDLS-BZA 23 hrs and BZA-VSKP 6 hrs
On a lighter note, the Vijayawada-Andhra lobby most probably won't let the conversion happen. :P

I think this train is a pseudo-Raj and honestly,Andhra deserves atleast one proper SF connection to the capital in the lines of TN and the erstwhile AP Exp.

Well, the large number of halts between NGP-BZA which are likely to be arrived at in the morning will surely be in the reschedule's favour

I suggested removing coaches and better schedules because the TRAIN IS NOT GOING TO GET CANCELLED.I just want IR to optimise its occupancy.

What can I say about "political compulsions"
The Vijayawada lobby is strong and such a move will only serve to create tensions in the state!

I think all of us would be extremely happy if this train's demand picks up.But I am sceptical about it because of the current demand for such a train.
I will concede that a non-AC SF would do much better, but our politicos wanted a Vijayawada Rajdhani which became an AC Express and on a whim of a minister became VSKP AC Express. Its degradation will not be allowed further without protests.
And coming to SC AC Exp,we have a 16 coach GR which usually runs with 90% occupancy and a Duronto with 80% occupancy
...
on the same day in addition to Godavari,Vishakha,Nanded,Janmabhoomi. So the AC Exp, which believe me or not gets most of its seats sold,is not "more empty than AP AC SF."
This route sees a lot of last minute bookings and usually 100 seats on both the Duronto and ACSF are sold

With Vijayawada being declared as the capital of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh,an overnighter should be introduced between BBS/VSKP and BZA for the public's convenience...In my view it would be better to start the train from BBS,because the districts of Srikakulam,Vizianagaram and also the sizable chunk of Telugus residing in the southern part of Odisha would be benefited.

Sir,more than 30-40% demand to Hyderabad is because all the government offices are present there.Once the capital is shifted to Vijayawada, won't people need good connectivity to the city,I mean that was the sole basis on which that region was declared the capital. The existing trains which provide overnight connection have meagre allocation in respect to the quota, and coming to the connection to Vijayawada from Uttarandhra, people still rely on RTC buses. So,a train which connects two important cities is not unwarranted, because passengers of the intermediate stations will also be benefited.
