Met 3 trains near Hindon bridge at the outer of GZB while traveling on RRTS.First overtook a container freight led by WDG 4g-49198 which was closely chasing Ljn DD led by some Wap 7 equipped with Hrpt.Also in between 12420 Gomti crossed with 39271 Lgd P7 going towards GZB.We overtook the trains at around 110 kmph even after slowing heavily due to the huge curve just after GZB rrts station.

It's a negative feedback loop. This train doesn't get enough passengers, so becomes low priority and hence, gets delayed often. And passengers don't prefer it because of it's delays, weird departure timings from LJN and uncomfortable seats in DD [also, it doesn't help that it terminates at ANVT instead of DLI/NDLS].

Of these many couldn't b a success probably due to :-
*Less Leg Room (Legs seems to be crushed)
*Width of seats is less (fat people cant travel comfortably)
*Luggage Problem
*Lack of PC on longer routes/ journey (AC pax dont prefer to get down to buy RAIL NEER/soft drinks etc )
*(Inputs welcomed)

Not to forget
*heavy investment and manpower in R&D
*RDSO trials and certificate
*CRS trails
*curve issues
*pf manipulation
.
The POINT is dont run DDs for d sake of running tag "DOUBLE DECKER" in the country.
its a waste exercise if its not ran in conducive way or optimum utilized.

But v hav witnessed certain DDs which r successful such as JP-DEE, ADI-BCT, MAS-SBC, LJN-ANVT but lets us clear that dese have become successful dont bcoz of DOUBLE DECKER concept but bcoz of route demanding a AC train. not to forget JP-DEE has 2 shat EC coaches.

consider newly inaugurated LJN-ANVT DD which has 10 CC
so lets compare
10x120=1200 seats
15*78=1170 seats
What m trying to say is a icf shat can b easily ran with 15coaches carrying almost same no. of passengers

there r HBJ - INDB -BPL - INDB - HBJ DD which jst hav 3 coaches whereas it was said DD wud clear rush
what a joke !
instead of above DD, a simple ICE consisting of GEN, 2S, CC would do boon for passengers
.
Therefore, I wud suggest to run ICF shats without catering charges on wherever routes required.
.
Now dese existing DD sud b ran only on existing shat routes only.
I have heard manufacturing of DD has been stopped.
.
Last but not d least, some positive scope.
DDs wud b a assest where it can replace 24coacher or max coaches train with same comfort and everything....

I guess Karnavati 4 Ac coaches should be replaced with 4 DD coaches....it would increase the capacity in AC Chair Car of Karnavati...Full train is LHB
Or one more idea is to convert Seating DD coach to Sleeper DD coaches(like in foreign countries where they run full AC DD trains of sleeper class) and run such full DD trains with Sleeper class....:)

I read your old post and agree. I traveled once in the DD though I got the seat nearest to the door [ which was neither situated downwards or upwards ]. It was just okay for me despite me being fat. I think luggage space could be an issue for some pax.

This was one of 2 last minute alternatives available : [yes, even Gomti Express was full] the other being the more expensive Tejas. This train also isn't always punctual, sometimes reaching beyond midnight. I doubt starting it from ANVT
