छिवकी-मानिकपुर इलाहाबाद मण्‍डल में शामिल एवं छिवकी-शंकरगढ़ विद्युतीकरण पूर्ण
भारतीय रेल अपने सम्‍मानित यात्रियों को सर्वोत्‍तम यात्री सुविधाएं एवं बेहतर परिवहन उपलब्ध करानेके लिए निरंतर प्रयासरत है। भारतीय रेल के एक महत्‍वपूर्ण अंग के रूप में उत्‍तर मध्‍य रेलवे भी सुविधायुक्‍त, सुरक्षित एवं संरक्षित यात्रा सुलभ कराने के लिए सदैव तत्‍पर रहा है। जैसाकि ज्ञात है उत्‍तर मध्‍य रेलवे से गुजरने वाले 2 ट्रंक रूट मुगलसरांय-इलाहाबाद-कानपुर-गाजियाबाद एवं पलवल-मथुरा-आगरा-ग्‍वालियर-झांसी-बीना भारतीय रेल के सर्वाधिक व्‍यस्‍तम रेल मार्गों में से एक है। इन रेल मार्गों पर अतिसघन रेल परिचालन को ध्‍यान में रखते हुए इन पर लाइन क्षमता के संवर्धन के प्रयास किये जा रहे हैं।
लाइन क्षमता बढ़ाने के इन प्रयासों के तहत वर्ष 2016-17 के दौरान उत्‍तर मध्‍य रेलवे में बहुत सारे कार्य किये गये हैं। इनके क्रम में गाजियाबाद से कानपुर एवं इलाहाबाद से मुगलसरांय के मध्‍य ऑटोमेटिक सिग्‍नलिंग के कार्य को पूरा किया गया है। इन कार्यों के पूरा होने से जहां तो एक तरफ लाइन क्षमता बढ़ सकी, वहीं अधिक संख्‍या में गाडि़यां चलाने के बावजूद समय पालनता भी बेहतर हुई। इसी क्रम में मारीपत से छिपयाना बुजुर्ग के मध्‍य ऑटोमेटिक सिग्‍नलिंग का कार्य किया गया। अलीगढ़ में 175 रूटों वाली इलेक्‍ट्रानिक इन्‍टरलॉकिंग के साथ-साथ यार्ड रिमॉडलिंग का कार्य भी सम्‍पन्‍न किया गया। इससे अलीगढ़ स्‍टेशन पर रेल परिचालन में सुधार हुआ। इसके अतिरिक्‍त मैनपुरी में 72 रूटों वाली पैनल इन्‍टरलॉकिंग,मलवा में 43 रूटों वाली इलेक्‍ट्रानिक इन्‍टरलॉकिंग का भी कार्य पूरा किया गया।
इसी क्रम में टूण्‍डला में सेन्‍ट्रलाइज्‍ड ट्रैफिक कन्‍ट्रोल का ट्रॉयल भी प्रारम्‍भ हुआ। उत्‍तर मध्‍य रेलवे के 62 स्‍टेशनों पर लूप लाइन के माध्‍यम से रन थ्रू सुविधा भी दी गयी। इसके अतिरिक्‍त सम्‍भावित आकस्मिकता को ध्‍यान में रखते हुए हाथरस, बढ़हन एवं खागा स्‍टेशनों पर सप्‍लीमेन्‍ट्री पैनल भी लगाये गये ताकि यदि कभी इलेक्‍ट्रॉनिक इन्‍टरलॉकिंग में कोई समस्‍या हो तो उससे परिचालन बाधित न हो।
रेल परिचालन के लिए संचार एक महत्‍वपूर्ण अंग है।इसको बाधारहित एवं सुचारू बनाने के उद्देश्‍य से टूण्‍डला बोर्ड एवं कानपुर एरिया बोर्ड के मध्‍य हॉट लाइन स्‍थापित की गयी है। साथ ही अलीगढ़-इटावा खण्‍ड पर 170 किलोमीटर मार्ग पर मोबाइल ट्रेन रेडियो कम्‍यूनिकेशन भी कार्य करना प्रारंभ कर चुका है। इससे ट्रेन के क्रू एवं कन्‍ट्रोल के मध्‍य बेहतर सम्‍पर्क स्‍थापित हो सक रहा है।
इसी क्रम में इलाहाबाद क्षेत्र में परिचालन को सुचारू करने के लिए छिवकी-मानिकपुर खण्‍ड कोइलाहाबाद मण्‍डल में शामिल किया गया एवं छिवकी-शंकरगढ़ विद्युतीकरण पूर्ण होने से भी परिचालन बेहतर हो सकेगा।

The train will have AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper class and General Second class coaches.
The train will halt at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Nadiad, Ahmedabad, Samakhiali, Bhachau and Gandhidham stations in both directions.

W. Rly will be running two of its popular trains using LHB rakes instead of the conventional rakes o­n temporary basis. It has been decided by W. Rly to convert the conventional rake to LHB rake o­n temporary basis of Train No. 19049/19050 Bandra Terminus – Patna Weekly Express Ex. Bandra Terminus w.e.f 17.04.2017 to 26.06.2017& Train No. 22965/66 Bandra Terminus – Bhagat ki Koti Weekly Express Ex. Bandra Terminus w.e.f 21.04.2017 to 30.06.2017. been introduced, which includes 3 Superfast trains, 6 Mail/Express, 1 Passenger and 7 DEMU trains. Destinations of 5 trains have been extended. 4427 Holiday Specials were run for the convenience of passengers. With an aim to provide more confirmed seats, 9515 additional coaches were attached to various trains o­n temporary/day-to-day basis. 29 coaches have been attached in 26 trains o­n permanent basis.
Shri Bhakar stated that Western Railway has always been driven by the needs of its passengers and hence aims at providing passengers with better comfort and enhanced travel experience. In line with this motto, 5 state-of-art LHB rakes have been introduced vice conventional rakes. During the year 2016-17 additional halts have been provided in 19 trains which have been appreciated by the passengers.

Hubballi station has recognized as best maintained major station of South Western Railway. During the year 2016-17 the following facilities have been provided to enhance Passenger amenities at Hubballi Station for the convenience of Rail users.
As a part of modernizing the stations 2 nos. of escalators in up direction have been provided o­ne each at Platform No.2/3 & Platform No.4/5.

reduce overcrowding and to comply the Budget announcement ‘Operation 5 Minutes’,2 Coin operated Ticket Vending Machines (CoTVM) & 4 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) have been provided in concourse for quick availability of unreserved tickets to passengers.
In tune with the innovative of “Digital India” free Wi-Fi connectivity has been provided for passengers with Android mobile connection at Hubbali Station.
Additional cover over Platform No.1 i.e.48 m towards Dharwad end near Foot Over Bridge and 24 m towards Gadag end near subway has been provided during this year.With this Platform No.1 is fully covered.
To improve the aesthetics of stations, Murals have been provided at lower circulating area in front of the station building.
For improving landscaping around the Station premises, Tree plantation drive has been initiated and saplings planted during Swachh Bharat abhiyan.
As an initiative towards Swachh Bharat, Cement Concrete Apron has been provided at Platform No.4 at a cost of Rs.1.71 Crs.Work is in progress for Cement Concrete Apron o­n Platform No.5 also.
For the convenience of Waitlisted/RAC passengers, digital display charts have been provided at the main entrance of the Platform No.1.
To facilitate purified water for passengers at comparatively cheaper rate, Water vending machines have been provided at PF/ -1, PF - 2/3 (2 Nos.) & PF – 4/5 (2 Nos.). In addition, Cool drinking water hubs has been provided by Akhil Bharatiya Shri Rajendra Jain Nav Yuvak Parishad.
Railway Budget announcement “Baby Care Corner” is available at Ladies Waiting room, Upper Class Waiting Room & Sleeper Class Waiting Room for the convenience of lady passengers with infants & babies.
Child Care Protection has been started at PF No.1 by Social Organisation, Belgaum Diases Social Service Society, Dharwad, 24 x 7 with toll free No.1098.
Urinals have been provided o­n PF No.1 (Gadag end), New PRS office and Parcel Office.
Cloak Room facility has been provided at PF No.1.
“Higginbothams” bookstall has been reallocated to PF No.1.
The following facilities are in the pipeline & planned to be provided shortly at Hubballi Station.
Battery operated ferry cars for plying senior citizens and specially abled citizens will be operational soon.
Second entry to Station from Gadag road side is also being planned.

Total 10 Nos. of Escalators are sanctioned for South Western Railway.Out which, 9 escalators have been commissioned and 1 escalator installation at Platform No. 9/10 at Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (Bengaluru) Station is pending owing to Metro Work.This escalator will be commissioned o­nce the Metro Work is completed. Each escalator is costing Rs. 116.78 Lakhs, including civil works such as providing covered shelter and pathway for the escalators. The escalators are of state of art technology; its safety device is fully complying with international standard EEN-115.The escalators have nominal step width of 1000 mm with 4 Nos. of horizontal steps o­n top and bottom of the escalator with nominal speed of 0.5m per second, keeping in view the convenience and comfort of the passengers.The maximum carrying capacity of the escalator is 100 passengers per minute.The escalators are of heavy duty reversible type and capable of operating safely, smoothly and continuously in both directions for a period of not less than 20 hours a day and 7 days a week.Each step can carry 100 Kgs. of load.The angle of inclination is 30 degrees.The vertical height of each escalator is 5.8m. For the convenience of the passengers, foot light at the level of the stair has been provided in these escalators.
Total 12 Nos. of Lifts are sanctioned for SWR. Out of which 6 Lifts have been commissioned.Six Lifts which have been commissioned include o­ne at Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (Bengaluru) Station o­n platform No. 7/8,Three at Yesvantpur o­n platform No. 2/3, 4/5 & 6 and Two at Mysuru Railway Station o­n platform No. 2/3 & 4/5.Two Lifts at Hosapete Railway Station o­n Platform No. 1 & 2/3and Two Lifts at Belagavi Railway Station o­n Platform No. 1 & 2/3 aretargeted to be commissioned by the end of June, 2017. One lift at Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (Bengaluru) Station o­n Platform No. 1 and o­ne lift at Yesvantpur Railway Station o­n Platform No. 6 will be commissioned by the end of May, 2017.
These lifts are of 20 passengers and 1360 Kgs. carrying capacity and have been provided with State of Art Technology with VVVF Drive system incorporating all safety features such as Automatic Rescue Devices, Door Sensor, etc. It is having carriage width of 1550 mm & height of 2200 mm and is provided with hairline stainless body with LED illuminated cabins with floor-wise annunciator working at a speed of 1.25m per second.The approximate cost of provision of each lift is Rs. 46 Lakhs, including construction of lift well, flooring, ACP works etc.
These escalators and liftswill be ofgreat help to senior citizens and Divyangs.

Railway Week Celebrations for Commercial Branch was held o­n 11.4.2017.A total of 94 individual awards, which includes 23 women staff and two group awards were distributed to Officers and Staff of Commercial Department by the Chief Commercial Manager, Shri K. Siva Prasad.
The highlight of the event was the achievement of South Western Railway with respect to ticket checking earnings. For the year 2016-17, South Western Railway earned 32.29 Crores as compared to 25.15 Crores for the period 2015-16, registering a growth of 28.39%.South Western Railway performance was the best amongst 16 Zonal Railways with respect to Ticket checking earnings.This was possible due to the continuous efforts of all Officers and Ticket Checking staff, who worked round the clock throughout the year.

The other highlight being that, SWR has not o­nly achieved but also surpassed the Originating Freight loading tonnage which stood at 44.187 million tonnes, as against the target of 43.75 million tonnes.
Besides, this Railway has introduced 12 new trains, extended 05 Passenger Trains, increased the frequency of Train No. 16579/80 Yeshwantpur-Shimoga Town-Yeshwantpur from Bi-weekly to Tri-weekly.
In line with the directives of Hon’ble Prime Minister, this Railway had introduced the facility of cashless ticketing through installation of POS at 140 locations, 113 ATVMs and Hon’ble Minister for Railways had declared 5 stations viz. Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru Cant., Krishnarajapuram and Bangarpet as fully DIGI Pay stations.
Shri Anil Pavithran, Chief Commercial Manager (Catering Service & Passengers Services), Shri S.P. Shastri, Chief Commercial Manager (Freight Marketing) and other Officers from HQrs. and Divisions were available.

To clear extra rush in regular train during forthcoming Summer Vacations and to ensure better convenience to the passengers, Western Railway has decided to extend 4 trips of existing Bandra Terminus – Ahmedabad Weekly Superfast Special train upto Gandhidham o­n special fare.

Superfast Special train will depart from Bandra(T) at 00.20 hrs o­n Saturday and will reach Gandhidham at 13.40 hrs the same day. The extended trips upto Gandhidham will run from 22nd April to 13th May, 2017.
Similarly, Train No. 09030 Gandhidham – Bandra(T) Weekly Superfast Special train will depart from Gandhidham at 16.35 hrs o­n Saturday and will reach Bandra (T) at 06.15 hrs, the next day. The extended trips from Gandhidham will run from 22nd April to 13th May, 2017.
The train will have AC II Tier, AC III Tier, Sleeper Class and Second Class General Coaches.
Enroute the train will halt at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Nadiad, Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Dhrangdhra, Samakhiali and Bhachau stations in both directions.
The booking of 4 trips for Train No 09029/09030 Bandra (T) – Gandhidham-Bandra (T) Superfast Special Train will open from 17th April, 2017 at all Passenger Reservation Centers and IRCTC website.
