Running a new train in IR is a contentious issue. There is no dearth of inputs to RM in this regard. Every year RM use to get demands in 1000s for new trains/ extensions/ frquency increase from MPs, Central/State Ministers/ Various passenger associations etc, hardly a few % got accomodated in the budget announcement. Also there are proposals from various zones to RB. There is not much studies/market survey etc for identification of the best possible destinations. Else we should not have seen plethora of ACDD trains announced and stopped after years of empty operation!
Running a new train require a lot of resources like finances for fuel, rakes, locos, manpower, time slot, terminal/rake maintenance facilities etc. Every thing depends...
more... on the resource availability.
There was a demand from Gujrat to TVC and the new train is announced from a town in Gujrat to Tirunelveli via TVC, as there was no spare terminal capacity at TVC. Occupancy for extra 150km journey (TVC-TEN) shall be a recurring loss which will be costlier than development of alternative terminal capacity! Things can take any route!!
What will happen after merger of RB with GB, it is difficult to say. What is evident today indicates that introduction of new trains shall mostly go to poll bound states in addition to RM's state and Rly HQs.
More flags to an imaginary train in IRI gives you satisfaction that your proposed train is appreciated by more IRI friends, who are supposed to be wiser than common public regarding the subject matter. Do you think IR will look into websites say IRI for inputs regarding destinations and timings for introduction of a new train?
