Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, the clearances of the Planning Commission and CCEA have been received on 12thFebruary, 2014.
The cost of this 252 km. long new railway line project is Rs. 1922 Crs., with 50 : 50 STATE COST SHARING between Ministry of Railways and Govt. of Karnataka and LAND is to be provided FREE OF COST by the Govt. of Karnataka.
With the construction off this direct link, the distance between Gadag and Wadi stations will come down by about 147 kms., in comparison to the existing routes via Guntakal and via Hotgi. Thus, the construction of this line will help in faster movement of goods and passengers between Wadi and Hubli.
Industries of above mentioned five districts will also get convenient and speedy rail connection with West Coast Ports and other parts of the country, thereby enhancing the socio-economic development of backward areas of Hyderabad-Karnataka.
Karnataka people may be benefited enormously by this projects.Part of the project may be put into beneficial use with in 4 years since Karnataka participate with 50 % COST SHARING and FREE LAND .Since they provide FREE LAND,no delay due to Land problems and Railway Engineers are concentrated in Project Works only EFFECTIVELY.Since project schedule are time bound with assured funds allocation ,the escalation cost of the project is a minimum only.
I hope this Project may be completed in Karnataka very much earlier than the Madurai-Bodi Line on going Works in Tamilnadu.

The Ministry of Railways will finance 50 percent of the cost and the Government of Karnataka shall provide the required land, free of cost as well as meet the remaining 50 percent of the project completion cost with escalation.
Land to the extent of about 1118.38 acres shall be provided free of cost by the Government of Karnataka. The proposed plant shall help Indian Railways in ensuring timely availability of passenger coaches to meet the increasing demands of passenger transportation.

Moreover KOLAR COACH FACTORY turnout first COACH well ahead of the on going KANCHIKODE COACH FACTORY in Kerala and ICF SECOND PHASE EXPANSION in Tamilnadu ,Since the Government of Karnataka shall provide the required land, free of cost as well as meet the remaining 50 percent of the project completion cost with escalation. But Tamilnadu and Kerala not actively participate 50 % COST SHARING and meet the remaining 50 percent of the project completion cost with escalation.
