MUMBAI: Metro man E Sreedharan has warned engineers of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to not "leave scope for time and cost overrun". This was for the engineers who have begun construction work for the fully underground metro railway line from Colaba to Seepz passing via Bandra.
Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) had organized a special interaction of its officials and civil contractors with Sreedharan who is also the principal advisor to the MMRC.

He emphasized on the importance of civil construction, timely completion of the project and the possible cost escalation due to the lax approach. He shared five key principles he always followed - punctuality, integrity, professional competence, contract management and social responsibility. "There is no scope for time and cost overrun in such projects," he added.
"Implementation of each mass rapid transit system project has its own set of challenges and the metro-3 corridor will be no different. Detailed planning in the pre-implementation stage, anticipating and preparing for hurdles in advance can contribute to the timely completion of this ambitious project", he said.
He also underlined the significance of safety and quality of work during every stage of the construction.
MMRC's managing director, Ashwini Bhide, said that her administration was confident of meeting the daunting task of creating the city's first underground mass rapid transit system successfully under Dr Sreedharan's guidance.

Hats off to Mr. E Sreedharan, who is the key person behind the successful and fast implementation of very difficult projects like Konkan Rly and Delhi Metro.
It is always very heartening to know that he takes interests in all the other Metro projects and is always more than willing to share his experience and give valuable advice to the engineers/managers of other projects under implementation, very much in the interest of our nation.
