Parli - Parbhani route was originally Meter gauge, while Parli- Vikarabad route was broad gauge. And the Vikarabd Parli route has to pass through a hilly section just south of Parli. Since Parli was a terminus for BG and MG at that time, to reduce construction costs, the BG line was constructed to avoid the hills and enter Parli station from the same side as the Parbhani route. After gauge conversion, since the route does not have much traffic, the same arrangement was continued by SCR.
