I booked today a SL ticket in 12864/YPR HOWRAH EXP is Tatkal quota, however the tkt status is CKWL 3, though while booking it was 20 seats available.
Could you please tell me if the ticket status woudl be confirmed if I travel on 25th Jan 22-48 from BBS (Bhubaneswar)?
Or, do I cancel the ticket and go for another one (if...

sir plz... if CKWL3 couldn't get cleared then how come CKWL35 would clear that too in few hours?

just take an unresered ticket and board the train SL class. when TTE comes ask him to give you a ticket. he will charge the appropriate fare and ask him if any berth available then give it to you. if he wants some extra bucks then don't hesitate to give.
Take a unreserved superfast ticket from the counter. Board the train in any of the reserved classes and talk to the TTE. If berths are available, he would charge you difference in fare and issue you a ticket (Excess Fare Ticket) for the class berth is available.
Since lots of passengers travelling from Bangalore and/or any station enroute should deboard at BBS or station prior to BBS, there is high chance that there would be lots of berths vacant ex BBS.
