Considering the passenger shift to the north side of the city, Mohd Jamshed, railway board (traffic) member, directed the Western Railway (WR), Mumbai division, to increase the suburban services where passenger footfall has gone up.
For 35 lakh WR commuters, this means more services to Vasai, Virar and Dahanu from Andheri station which sees the highest passenger footfall.
On October 26, Jamshed inspected Churchgate station and travelled from here to Andheri in the second class compartment of a Borivali-bound fast train.
the journey, he also interacted with passengers about their concerns.
The senior railway official examined the station-wise data of passenger growth for the last few years, which indicates the growing ticket sales at emerging business centres such as Bandra, Andheri and Malad-Goregaon.
“The statistics show that footfall at Churchgate has reduced, while Santacruz and Andheri have seen a rise in the ticket sales. This indicates that more passengers are commuting to the north. The construction of the third and fourth lines between Virar and Dahanu will help to cater this section better,” said Jamshed.
Hindustan Times had reported on the passenger growth at Andheri, Malad–Goregaon and residential hubs like Borivali, Vasai and Virar on September 13.
Following which, the WR curtailed some Churchgate-Bandra trains and added more services between Virar and other stations such as Andheri, Borivli and Bandra.
“Considering the passenger shift, he (Jamshed) has directed us to serve the section better where the passenger increase has been noticed. He also enquired about the infrastructure projects,” said Mukul Jain, divisional railway manager, Mumbai division, WR.
Jamshed was in the city to review a biannual meeting with chief commercial managers from all 16 zones of Indian railways and other chiefs of public sector undertakings.
In the meeting of all zonal railways, the officials discussed ways to improve passenger amenities, redevelope stations and increase the non-fare revenues.

This section is very much neglected section of WR suburban rly. The population in this region growing since last decade. IR babus see now!!!
There is urgent need for addln service in VR-DH section immediately. Quadriplicating work is going on very slow pace. There is no deadline, hence it goes on indefinitely!!! By the time it is completed the requirement would have gone up. Sab kuchh Ram bharose chal raha hai.

What Happened to train running from Borivali to Palghar/Vapi yesterday (28 June) all train after 12951 Rajdhani Express and 12909 Garib Rath were late. Up train to Mumbai were also late 12010 was late

Is ka plannin hi samaj nahi aa raha. 57 km ke liye 2.35 min kon travel karega? By road aap 40 se 50 minutes me pahuchenge. Nathdwara ke liye Bandra- Udaipur exp mein coach laaga ke use Nathdwwara daily le ja sakte hai.

UDZ visit isnt traffic centric but Secondary Maintenance (Water & Cleaning) @ UDZ!!
The Rake may run Empty Rake, as it do for OKHA-HAPA-OKHA run (to facilitate journey as HAPA-BSP SF & OKHA-NDT Exp), but instead run SPL for limited time span (while m sure, its run quite regular even if nt SPL thn as Empty Rake)!!

There is no such train with this train number,but 12959 DDR-BHUJ SFE is there which runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

There is no train having 19153 as its no. Plz check again. There is only 1 train connecting Dadar to Bhuj which is 12959/60 which is biweekly. Kutch Exp(19131/32) & SayajiNagari(19115/16) are the only daily trains connecting Mumbai and Bhuj

There are many passengers who hold WL tickets and enter the Reserved compartments in almost every train. They fail to understand that as per Railway rules, passengers with WL tickets are not allowed to board the train/reserved compartments. This inconveniences all the other passengers with valid Reserved tickets in their respective coaches. This leads to a lot of arguments and unnecessary fights between passengers as some of the passengers are illiterate as well and do not seem to understand.
Secondly, in most cases, the TTE does not inform the Guard and detrain these WL passengers from the Reserved compartments. The rules also mention that the WL passengers have to cancel their tickets and the refund will be given immediately. But this seldom
happens. Now, from the WL passenger point of view, he has paid the ticket fare and is awaiting a seat and berth,subject to availability. The same is also applicable for RAC passengers. RAC indicates that a single seat/berth will be shared by 2 passengers. This creates a practical problem as one passenger will be a senior citizen and the other co-passenger has to adjust. In some cases, it is a family who has to bear the brunt. This leads to sleepless nights as both the passengers would be severely inconvenienced.
Therefore, to avoid all these problems, a New ticketing System has to be introduced
1. Only 72 tickets will be issued as RAC tickets in SL class and NO WL tickets in SL class.
2. A separate RAC Coach be attached similar to SL compartments for exclusively RAC passengers so that other passengers are not inconvenienced. The moment any berth is available, on FIFO basis the allotment would be done by the TTE and the passenger would move from RAC Coach to SL Coach. The subsequent UR passenger would get a seat in RAC in case he so desires after paying the difference fare.
3. No WL tickets will be issued in all AC coaches. A separate AC CC Coach with push back seats will be attached for all AC passengers with RAC tickets as common RAC Coach for AC passengers i.e only the AC CC fare would be charged and the moment any berth is free, the TTE will allot the same on FIFO basis after charging the difference fare.
4 All types of Special/VIP quotas will be scrapped for SL, 2AC & 3AC coaches. VIP quota will be available only in 1AC coaches.
5. Tatkal tickets will be only for Tatkal cases- incase of medical emergency, death, marriage, job interview etc. Currently the agents mint money by charging a premium of Rs 1000 for every Tatkal ticket which leads to corruption.
If no WL tickets are issued, then all the passengers would be happy as there would be tranquil and peace during travel and there would be no fights over seats/berths. The railways would anyway have to refund the amounts on WL tickets as these are not valid for travel, then why issue the same in the first place.
The job of the TTE would also be simplified with these changes and he may not be subject to too much pressure on allotting seats/berths.

I agree that seperate coach for RAC tkt but problem is with WL. For WL endlessly wait to get cnfr berth.
For WL old system of giving tkt without resvn chg be given & if confr is done than only TTE can chg the diff.
All othr suggestions are welcome.

With new rly budget coming we wish as follows
1. More EMU services on CCG to Dahanu (atleast 4 pairs).
2. EMU services on BVI to Panvel via Vasai Rd.
3. EMU services from BVI to Kalyan via Vasai Rd.
One daily train bet BDTS to Bhavnagar in morning.
5. Completion of BG conversion of ADI to Botad, this saves 50 Km in one direction between ADI & Botad section.
6. Saurashtra Exp speed should be increased between ADI-BCT.
And for office goers an Intercity should be run before Saurashtra Exp from ADI/ BCT in the Morning.
