A daily occurrence at MFP.. Look how punctuality of trains is at its lowest specially in Northern and Eastern india..Its .neither fog season nor any kind of mishap took place..still some trains are running even 14 hours late...Suresh prabhu undoubtedly is the worst railway minister as far as operation of trains is concerned..

For certain things we can blame Suresh Prabhu but for certain things we cannot. The accident rate was very high until a month back also. That could be a reason to be overcautious and slow down the majority of trains. Less than 33% of all trains run on time, and these are mainly short distance or inter city hauls.
One thing we cannot blame Suresh Prabhu for...the sad state of Tejas Express. Stolen headphones, garbage everywhere, choked toilets, broken LCD screens, glass also broken by stone throwers, beer bottles strewn everywhere..
are many who say North India is worst, but look at NDLS- Bhopal Shatabdi and Gatiman express..people take pride in keeping those trains spic n span..And look at Delhi Metro too..
India will always be a third world backwater until people change their attitude towards public facilities and keep their spaces clean and neat. Which won't happen in the near or even distant future..

bhai suresh prabhu ko "worst" kahna puri tareeke se galat hai... kisi chij me sudhar karna kahne jitna aasan nahi hai.... ye koi aisa kaam to hai nhi ki jadui chhadi ghuma di aur ho gaya....logo ko ye samjhna padega.... haa kuchh zone hai jo dhang se control nahi kar pate .... unhe sudharne ki jarurat hai....lakin iske kiye worst kahna galat hai.... thoda janata bhi dekhe vo kya karti hai.... example Tejas Express....

Until now nobody has been able to answer my query. Why does Sion (SIN) station in Mumbai have four platforms? Ok, two for slow locals, one for fast and long distance, and what's the fourth for?
And why do semi fast and fast trains never stop at Sion? Semi fast stops at Matunga though. Sion station connects the important hubs of Dharavi and Sion West where many long distance buses terminate (private omnibuses).

There are many stations like Sion who cater to only slow local trains but have four platforms to their names like Khar, Mahim. There is no single reason why these are in existence, like during megablocks, sometimes slow trains are diverted on fast tracks and hence these dormant platforms are used then. Some of them have been made for future provisions like parel (terminus in near future).
Can't comment on why semi-fast/ fast trains don't stop at sion, although added infrastructure (extra platforms) maybe put to use for adding more locals once cst-thane 5-6th line gets into place.

Is it a good idea to travel from Chennai to Aluva by MS- Guruvayur express? The train goes all the way to CAPE and then turns into Kerala before reaching Aluva at ~3 am. Almost 20 hour journey but that is the only train in which tickets are available on demand for all classes..

Kedarnath temple was opened in undue haste after mudslide. Even now nobody knows how many vanished. Given the fragile ecology of the region, train is a bad idea. In winter the temp even touches -50'c on rare occasions. Government should scrap this, but due to political compulsion they have to announce this wasteful project.

1. -50 C ???? Really when did this low occur? Or are you just floating theories like other "experts" here.
2. See the mainpost. The line is not to Kedarnath. It is to Sonprayag. There is snowfall and some freezing there, but -50 never. The snowing is on par with the Kashmir line. Rail can be operated through the year.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
