I never traveled in LHB coaches.
But in ICF, i often preferred SL based, specially near the Axle Wheels, which used to give a perfect metallic music all throughout the journey.
Much better than using a mixers and other musical equipment.
Specially, when crossing a bridge, switching tracks at both, high speed n low speed, during the high speed run, the perfect tak tak, chik chik.
For a metal n high music admirer, ICF SL, GS coaches are best for experience.

Ohh... it means that you haven't traveled by an LHB Rajdhani or Duronto Train till now. Do you feel that the sounds that come from a vestibule area in an AC Coach are as loud and similar sounding as in a Non-AC Coach Vestibule Area ? I just love the sounds when the train moves out of the Terminal Platform and accelerates to give sounds like Thang Thung... ssssssssss....zzzzzzzz... Lum phum.... and then some cracking sounds of the vestibule metal carpet clanging to each other... dham dhoom... all this is awesome to feel the MPS ;-)

Sounds are the same, but changes the frequency according to the place.
Near a vestibule, where it is covered with the rubber sheet (can't get the exact name), those sounds are almost similar when standing even near an open one.
While door plating, try to take a small risk n hear the sounds there, specially at the Axle wheel.
Listen to that sound, let it b LHB or Non LHB, ICF the sounds remain the same, except the interior design helps a bit to reduce the noise coming inside in levels of decibels.

Apart from the vestibule area even the sounds within Western/Indian Toilets of ICF Coaches are quite similar (But less than that of the vestibule area). LHB Coach Toilets are quieter due to their commodes being closed just like home toilets. As a kid I used to think that the commode (Both Indian/Western) makes the sounds from it's hole but actually they are the parts and bolts beneath the toilet that emit such sounds. Once a Bollywood Music Director had said (Probably Mr. Anu Malik) that an Indian Train Toilet is the best place for Music Directors to compose new tunes for the sounds they emit... Gee ;-D

If a wheel slip occurs, the sanders get activated by the processor on detection.
Then the loco picks up the necessary TE in few mins with the help of it.
Even if sanders fail to give necessary support, then the loco isn't able to pull much load on the steep gradient.

When did i say WAP-7 can handle?
I said the same thing " Single EMD or else WAP-7 can't handle the gradient".
And secondly, if its rainy season, even sanding doesn't help much, which causes lot of issues.
All the weight can't b held properly.
Bankers are needed at such times.

Distance between Udhampur and Katra is 24.7 km. Katra lies 153m above Udhampur. Hence, the average gradient is 1:161.473. The ruling gradient might be 1:100 or so. It's bizarre if an EMD couldn't climb such gradients.
The reason for loco failure is poor maintenance. Nothing else.

The gradient here, looks a little moderate one, and isn't a tough challenge for a 8-10 capacity Train_Set DMU system to climb.
When a consist of a single loco with heavy horse power is needed, sometimes it does face problems, specially during monsoon winter season.

We 4 peoples traveled in this train from NSL to TPTY last wednesday. Had bad experience of boarding the train on main line at NSL as both platforms were occupied one by manmad bound Ajanta Exp and 1 by frieght. We had to board in other coaches to minimize chances of missing the train, lated we shifted to our coaches. It was really bad experience to elder, senior peoples and women to board a train on main line with luggage and children. Train halted for its scheduled 5 mins only. They would have provided 5 more mins if train is coming on main line. Peoples were totally unaware of their coach position so they simply boarded somewhere and somehow. The bad part was that just 2 mins before it was announced that train is coming on main line. Peoples were giving curses to railways over it.

Otherwise, train was punctual, clean, pantry service and food was good.

So i guess recently, the 2nd pf has come up. My story was quite even long back, when SNSI station never existed n the preferred train was Ajanta Express from Kacheduga - Manmad for Shirdi travelers n other alternatives.
