Bhai in every ten years our population increases by more than 10 crores i think.so every year 1 cr population is increased..so we need new trains to accommodate those people every year..currently the government is introducing those trains which are politically viable..And btw how many corridors and what kind of infrastructure is being set up ?? I dont see any kind of infrastructural growth..

As you can see IRCTC is trying their level best to challenge the motives of agents trying to sell tickets on much higher margin. They have now introduced a new rule that will limit the users to book number of tickets per month.

Its good but difficult to implement. There are many ID cards and system should be able to read the name on the card. If its only Aadhar card, then only we can implement your suggestion.

So you are saying if you want to book ticket for your mom dad and you are not travelling, so your name should be in it by default. Right?

no yar you have to creat separate id for them either , for example if you go for online room or darshan booking at shiridi or tirupaty the id holder must be one of the devotee. so like that whats difficult to create a new id who intends to travel either

you mistook sir i am telling that you need to create an personal id to book ticket at irctc portal. so i am to say that while entering names of passenger first name should be come as id holders name by default. if u need to book for others u need to open a new id for one of the passenger. i think it is clear now

“ I would like to share a incident, that occurred during my journey from Howrah to Satna.
I was traveling in a train. Train was already 10+ hours late. A pantry car employee came to our compartment and asked for dinner order, when we enquired about menu, he simply told there is veg thali that will cost Rs.100/- and it will contain paneer, vegetable, rice, daal and parantha where as non-veg thali will have chicken, roti, rice, daal and vegetable and it will cost Rs.150/-. One of the passenger asked him “I need only 2 rotis and vegetable” and pantry car waiter replied there is no such provision either you take full veg thali or you don’t take that passenger had no
option other than opting for veg thali that would cost him Rs. 100/-. Everyone ordered either veg thali or non veg thali even I ordered veg thali.
Suddenly a guy named Prabal sitting next to me asked waiter for menu card, Waiter replied arrogantly “lena ho to lo yeh menu dikhane wali bimar nahi paalte hum” he even said if you want we can give you a normal thali that will cost you Rs.50/-. Guy insisted but waiter opposed it arrogantly and rudely.
Prabal directly called railway helpline number-1800111321 and lodged a complaint regarding this, on seeing the confidence of that guy even I called this number and lodged a complaint. After 30 minutes that waiter came to our seat and gave us menu at that time he was very soft. What surprised us there were no option for thali that will cost you Rs.100/-, yes paneer and chicken curry were mentioned in the menu but those were not the mandatory part of thali.
Anyone can order anything from the menu as per their choice and requirement, i.e. if you need only 2 chapattis and a paneer then you can order only required stuffs, and for it you don’t have to order whole thali. Even if you will order paneer, rice, daal, veg,roti all then also the cost cannot reach up to Rs.100/-. On seeing this we called the manager of the pantry and he asked his employee to take order properly from all the passengers as per their need.
This is the story of every pantry car in India; they will force you to buy everything even if you don’t need it, so friends I will request you all to please ask for menu before ordering anything. If they refuse please call 1800111321 and lodge a complain there. Government has protocol to act as per our complain.
Government has provided us with facility to act against such unethical practices, its our duty to know about the right way and to stand against it.
P.S This post is not about just Rs.100/- , it’s about unethical practices that are going around us, and what we can do against such practices.”

New Delhi: Indian railway passengers won’t be able to avail ‘waiting’ facility under Tatkal quota ticket from 1st August on-wards, as per sources within the railway ministry.
The department has already started working on the changes. The railway board has decided that only specified berth would be booked under Tatkal quota and once the limit ends, further booking would cease to exist. Passengers wouldn’t be issued a waiting ticket thereafter.
At present, even after the prescribed limit under Tatkal quota ends, passengers are issued a waiting ticket.
railways officers believe that the railway budget for 2014 will include various big reforms.
Ticket prices may be reduced
Under Tatkal quota, passenger has to pay Rs. 150 more than what’s charged normally. For booking a berth in AC coach, you have to pay more than Rs. 300. Even if you are not travelling after booking a seat, the ticket can’t be cancelled thereafter.

And, in case ‘waiting’ is not cleared, your money can’t be reimbursed. In order to cut down all such problems, the latest budget may see ticket price going down.
Also, railways are planning to introduce a number (1322) which can be dialed in order to lodge your complaint. The call will be diverted to concerned control room of the division you are falling under.
The facility can be already availed in Delhi but still not made public. The project that has been started on pilot basis will be implemented all over the country within one month.

like premium trains tatkal tikets should handed over to irctc only. no prs booking. only online booking with improved irctc server. only needy persons can book the tickets online, in this way tickets can be preserved for general and cannot be cornered by touts.

As budget session is ahead i have some suggestions regarding tatkal booking.
everybody knows that common people are not that fortunate to avail tatkal tickets as 100% prs counters are occupied by touts and agents much before the booking started. a common man cannot sleep overnight on station to get a number to book tatkal ticket by 10.00am. where as touts can do it with grouping themselves under the blessings of rpf and booking clerks. so obviously a passenger depands upon either upon tout or travel agency. to get a ticket. I
1. make all tatkal bookings online only like premium train booking and no prs ticket issued so that passengers can attend the computer just before 10 am and no need to wait long wasting time and money. but care must be taken irctc server must be improved to world class.
2. second suggestion is to change once again the tatkal bookings to point to point sale with boarding anywhere. so that short traveled passengers can not pick the quota in between and long distance passengers can be benefited.

ALLAHABAD: Members of the Congress party staged a protest at Allahabad railway station on Monday alleging rampant black marketing of 'tatkal' tickets at railway reservation counters in the city.
Congress leaders Hasib Ahmed and Shrish Chandra Dubey alleged that if the problems of passengers are not solved within 72 hours, they would be forced to gherao the divisional railway manager of Allahabad.
They also handed over a memorandum to the chief public relation officer.
alleged that travel agents through their brokers are hand in glove with railway staff as they obtain several 'tatkal' tickets beforehand leading the common man to buy the tickets from them.
Thus, they not only take advantage of it but also extract extra money from them.

this is a serious problem through out india to obtain a tatkal ticket during peak time. railway should think over it to modify the rules. i suggest to make it point to point booking with boarding anywhere in between. so that only long distance passengers can opt for tatkal tickets.

The Indian Railways has announced that it will not pay any refunds to passengers, who will not travel by trains even after booking tickets, from March 1.
The same rule will be applicable to those who will cancel their journey after booking tickets as a part of a group.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SrDCM) of India’s Central Railway Dr Sumant Deulkar confirmed the news on Thursday, saying that the rule would come into effect on March 1 as per the modification made by the Indian Railways in its scheme on grant of refund
from Public Reservation System (PRS) on cancellation of tickets. Dr Deulkar told the local media in western Indian city of Nagpur that the Railway Board issued a circular on February 21 to all general managers, asking them to implement the decision from March 1. According to him, the proposed move will help the Railways create a huge fund for the proper maintenance of the railway system in the South Asian country.
The SrDCM stressed that the Railway Board had decided to modify rules regarding the refunding partially under the ‘Computerised Coaching Refund Scheme’ a couple of years back. Last week, the Board made it clear that refund across the counters would not be granted in case of passengers who do not turn up and less number of people travelling in groups.
The ‘Times of India’ daily reported that the Railways would pay refund under the system only for reserved and ‘Reservation Against Cancellation’ tickets in cases of lower class travel, failure of Air Condition in coach, discontinuation of journey by passengers because of dislocation of train services, failure in providing accommodation and cancellation of trains. As far as wait listed tickets are concerned, refund will not be granted under the new system, but will continue to be granted as per the existing rules.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director (Traffic Commercial) of Railway Board Rohit Kumar has asked the concerned Railway authorities to make necessary software modifications in this regard.
Currently, the cancellation charges are 50% of the fare (subject to a minimum of the cancellation charge referred), if passengers present the ticket for cancellation up to two hours after the actual departure of the train irrespective of distance.
