Hum khud bachpan mein general mein safar kiye hai but phir bhi train mein general ticket lekar AC mein nahi gaye. Yes sleeper ka corridor ya SL mein baithe hai for short distance but never denied seat to its rightful holder.
Rahi baat general vs AC debate ki to Railway ko simple 30-30-40 ratio rakhna chahiye.
For any 22 train that goes through migration heavy states H1, A1-A2, B1-B6, S1-S7, D1-D4, Slr and HOG/EOG.

It wasn't such a bad idea for overnight trains. Instead of RAC where two passengers have to share a berth this setup allowed both to sleep.
But not for long distance trains. That wud be nightmare

fanof12801~ 101 blog postsThis pooled quota is a big headache. Talking about 18103 Earlier before Covid- this train didn't had any PQ. But now from tata to jalandhar it is PQ, and tata to asr it is GN quota. This train gets 30% or more empty at varanasi then 30% at Lucknow.
Railway understand this very clearly that tata has a big demand for varanasi. Today this PQ quota (Till jalandhar) is showing regret status. Why they are not starting any extra train for BSB. I can understand this train is for Punjab but...
