This is a meaning less route.....And it's going to be a permanent route. Re-route it at least via YPR-HAS if not via BAY-ASK-HAS.

Friends, why are we discussing what the reasons are for Rlys to go for this long route??! That is Railways problem. Whatever the reason, it just does not make sense to waste peoples time by taking the longest possible route. If it is so difficult, dont put the train!!! Who is it helping ultimately?? Definitely not the Mangalore passengers. If we try to search for reasons, we will find thousands of reasons/excuses. Is it so difficult for Rlys to put a train from Hyd to Mangalore via Goa or via Hassan???

The shortest existing routes are Hyd-Hubli-Goa-Mangalore or Hyd-Bangalore-Hassan-Mangalore. Right now, no train from Hyd to Goa (only 2 sleeper coaches & 1 AC coach - that too only 4 times a week)

Train need not run on shortest route but there is no point having it run on the longest route. If it is on longest route, it serves no purpose for people of Originating station and Destination station. Only some in-between station passengers will benefit. Especially when there is no direct train previously and this is the first train between Hyderabad and Mangalore, it makes all the more sense to have it on a shorter route. Who wants to waste their precious time on a loooong route??

It is very difficult to get reservation to go from Hyd to Goa. Only 2 sleeper coaches & one AC coach... that too only 4 times a week. You need to book atleast 2 months in advance to get a berth. Railways should put a full train. Goa is a very popular tourist spot and neither AP govt nor Railways are doing anything about making trips easier for people. I suspect officials are silent because they may be getting commission from Bus Travel Agencies not to put trains on this route. Is it so difficult for Railways to put a full train from Hyd to Goa atleast 3 times a week?

This Hyderabad-Mangalore train is a BIG JOKE by Southern Railway. It is not meant for Mangalore bound passengers. Such a long route.. it is ALMOST touching Chennai on the East coast, then going all the way down to enter middle of Kerala, then rising towards Mangalore on the West coast. This route benefits only the Tamil and Kerala population. Better to have Kerala as final destination for this train than Mangalore. Is Mangalore only for washing and cleaning this train so that people of other states can use? The best route will be Hyderabad to Goa and then Mangalore. Right now there are just 2 sleeper coaches from Hyd to Goa, that too only 4 times a week (also one AC coach, but I am talking of middle class passengers). To get reservation on these coaches is very difficult. Railways can kill two birds with one stone if route is Hyd-Goa-Mangalore....
The distance will be much much shorter and better. Who wants to travel all the way to Chennai and Kerala when they can go to Mangalore via Bangalore or Goa (short routes). Railways should change the routing immediately. Else name the train SabariExpress2 as it is mostly Hyd to Kerala. Please dont use Mangalore name for nothing, people of that region are not fools. Railways, please change routing to Hyd-Goa-Mangalore or Hyd-Bangalore-Mangalore. Thank God, railways did not put the route as Hyd-Delhi-Kolkatta-Mangalore !!!!! I was waiting for this train from years, but I am terribly disappointed with the route... simply waste of precious time of people.

Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel should take up this matter with Southern Railway and demand change in route. Mangalore should demand its rights.

Train no: 17603 still has slip coaches to Vasco. But on indiarailinfo.com, when you search KCG to VSG, there is no train showing up in main Search. Why has this info been deleted when no changes have been made to the train? Previously (about a month back) it was showing up whenever someone searched for this query. Now, it shows as ΣChain no: 15127. Passengers need not get down & get transferd to other train, so please remove from ΣChain and show as main train. Please make corrections and revert to previous status. Thanks!
