Did a journey on this train yesterday. While journey on the whole is at par, train's timetable is a joke. Reached Barejdi(BJD) at 20:35. Whereas reached ADI 5 min late. 55 min for 16 km is pathetic. Train crawled all the way from VTV to ADI. IT can easily reach ADI by 9 p.m. Authorities should really look into this.

I kind of think surge pricing is the best thing happened. Its high time for us to realize trains cant compete to planes on long sectors. IR should actually enhance this idea and altogether change the rajdhani concept. Personally I believe rajdhani should be consisted only of 3A. Whereas shatabdi should be changed to use the 2S-CC combination of Jan shatabdi. Also rajdhani could be made to accommodate sl coaches made in 2a layout for that little extra comfort. This way the middle class get a decent overnight option for large distance journey. Whereas by scrapping of 2A and 1A loss can be reduced. 1A should be absolutely scrapped as its rarely completely filled. This way airline sector can be benefited and trains could accommodate more people with surge pricing. Comments appreciated.

A train being hit is not necessarily a profit making one. You can see for yourself in bibek debroy committee reports. The problem is with 1A and 2A the subsidies given have greater negative impact than the same in sl. Most of 1A travellers are bureaucrats or politicians. This same coach if changed to 3A will surely increase revenue. The summary is that surge princin in 3A is still acceptable but in 2A its just digging your own grave. So 2A and 1A should be removed.

Most of Raj-dur-shat are actually loss making. At the end IR is not here for seeing their trains full, its the profit thats making them worried. I would sure be unhappy of my venture would remain full but is loss making one. The problem with increasing suburban fare is the most ideal one but we know that is not gonna happen. A suburban fare hike by 10% will be like digging your own grave. Ruling party know that it will be a fatal recepie and hence no ruling party has ever shown interest in that venture.

19059 and 19060 has mere avg of 51 kmph. I am a frequent traveller on this train and it gets regularly delayed at jam. So are they making us fool by charging extra for such train or it is going to be speeded up in new TT.

I was in Delhi last year after completing the my north India trip last year. It was a quick stopover and had to catch Rajdhani next day to BRC. So went to visit Akshardham with parents. While returning back to hotel I just remembered about the National Rail Museum. Reached there and found that entry was closed 5 minutes before. Also some sections of rail museum were under renovation. Still I kindly requested the security personnels to allow entry. Luck struck and was told to enter the museum. Went straigth to the toy train that circles whole museum. It was last ride for the day and so there were only a few visitors. The ride was awesome. Than as the we deboarded again went to check locomotives and coaches in outdoor exibition. The pics are attached. I'll upload more pics as soon as I get free as they need resizing. Now...
Enjoy!
#1. Onboard the toy train.
#2&3 ST-707 BG Locomotive.

#6&7 B-26 BG Locomotive
#8&9 HPS2-24467 BG Loco.

#13 WDM-1 17000 Loco.
#14&15 1:8 Scale toy train. Was undergoing trials while I visited.
#16&17 Fireless Locomotive
#18 WAG-1 from BZA
#19&20 Vadodara's RA-6 Saloon
#20&21 DHR Loco.
#22&23 Matheran Light Rail
#24&25 WCP1. 120 kmph in 1930! Beat that WAP-7 :-)
#26 Nilgiri Mountain Rail Loco X-37385
Overall I was quite pleased to see the efforts of Railways. I had to leave at 5:45 as it was way past closing time. So it was sad to not see the museum in full glory. Definite visit next time I visit Delhi with a full day dedicated. A must visit for every railfan. Will upload rest pics soon. Thanks.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
