KOCHI: Southern Railway has started replacing old second class sleeper compartments in several express trains with three-tier AC coaches, leading to a less number of second...
SR gave a good reply for this rumour news also to ur information old coaches nearly 10 coaches in madurai jn is scrapped in madurai itself and again repainted and POHed i was shockd usually this occurs in GOC but they do in MDU itself .............And those new coaches are gng to get attached in some trains in future
the thing is, it is SR, which already have shortage of rake. So we can't predict anything. They will never replace the AC again with sleeper, and finally will become permant cc of the train
SR received 37 SL coaches from ICF from Apr 2014 till date. No new trains/specials is run by SR. No train is augumented with SL coaches. The coaches replaced were alreday running in trains. On what basis SR had acute shortage of coaches to replace them with AC 3 Tier. Also AC3 tier coaches are not available the same way like AC SL ... more...
since SL outclass in numbers. SR has equal number of AC coaches to replace SL. Dont you see something fishy? Cheran and Navajeevan also changed but no official update from SR.
