Would it not be better to have a night train for such long distances? Let trains leave both ends at 20:00 and reach destinations at 07:00. Bandipur sanctuary may allow just this one train during night considering all things. May be they should try and fence this track passing through the sanctuary, so that some more trains can pass during nights.
Seems you are not aware that there is no railway line in Bandipur sanctuary. Route would be Shoranur, palakkad, Coimbatore, Salem and further via Tiruppatur/ Hosur.
Not aware that there is no railway line in the Bandipur Sanctuary. Just after reading news, tried to respond. For a 11 hr journey, it seemed to be best to offer a night journey. Now that the sanctuary is not in the equation, the train should be an all nighter. For the whole route, there will be more and more memus available as time progresses.
One out of the box ideas:
1. Kochuveli to Mysore express can run further via MAJN to Kozhikode. May be as same train or with another number. This will provide day time train link from Mysore to Mangalore, Kasaragod, Kannur and provide first ever link between Mysore and Kozhikode.
2. Kozhikode to Bangalore via MAJN, Hassan is 579 kms which is same as via PGT, Salem 571 kms. Southern railway can run a ONT from Kozhikode to Bangalore via MAJN - starting from CLT by around 6 PM, MAJN at 10...
